Important: Upcoming SOL State Testing
It’s that time of year! Our Standards of Learning (SOL) testing window is approaching, and we want to ensure every student is positioned for success. These assessments are a vital opportunity for students to showcase the hard work they’ve put in all year long.
To help our students perform their best, please keep the following "Success Essentials" in mind:
🕒 Show Up and Be On Time
Attendance is critical. Please ensure your student is in school every day during the testing window.
-
Promptness Matters: Testing sessions begin strictly at the start of the school day.
-
Minimize Stress: Arriving early allows students to settle in, find their seats, and relax before the clock starts. Late arrivals can lead to missed sessions and required make-up dates.
😴 Prioritize a Good Night’s Sleep
A well-rested brain is a sharp brain! Ensure students get 8–10 hours of sleep the night before their test. Deep sleep is essential for memory recall and focus, helping them stay calm and clear-headed through every question.
🍳 Fuel Up with a Healthy Breakfast
Don't let a rumbling stomach be a distraction. A balanced breakfast provides the sustained energy needed for long testing periods.
-
Focus on: Proteins (eggs, yogurt) and complex carbs (oatmeal, whole-grain toast).
-
Avoid: High-sugar cereals or treats that might lead to a mid-morning "sugar crash."
