Congratulations to all Falls Church Academy students who participated in the Virginia HOSA Student Leadership Conference in Roanoke, VA, March 20-22. Students competed in events such as Health Career Photography, Mental Health Promotions, CPR/First Aid, Medical Terminology, HOSA Bowl and so many more. It was a wonderful time for students to share and test their knowledge of healthcare, while meeting new friends from all over the State of Virginia.
Students from the Pharmacy Tech Level 2 class had the opportunity to see three different pharmacy's at Inova Fairfax Hospital and learned how the functions of each satellite pharmacy applied directly to the efficiency of patient care. In addition, students learned about the VCU School of Pharmacy through the Fairfax satellite campus to know what is expected in this college program, how to apply and the benefits of a career in pharmacy.
For the second year, the Biotechnology Foundation students have had the opportunity to visit the Inova Central Laboratory facility in Fairfax to learn about their ground breaking full service laboratory that offers 24 hour medical testing results to all patients within the Inova Healthcare system. Students toured all aspects of the facility and learned about careers in phlebotomy, histology, pathology and others.
