Wolf Pack Weekly- April 8th

Hello Wolf Pack!

Welcome Back from Spring Break! We hope all of our Oak Hill Elementary families had a restful, fun, and rejuvenating spring break. It has been absolutely wonderful welcoming our students back this week and seeing the hallways filled with their energy and smiling faces once again.

Field Day

Our students wasted no time jumping right back into the swing of school! I was incredibly proud to see them demonstrating such fantastic teamwork and resiliency during Field Day. Whether they were collaborating with classmates, cheering on their peers, or pushing through challenging activities, the Wolf Pack spirit was on full display. Thank you to our staff (especially Ms. Croy, Mr. Germain and our specialist team) and family volunteers who helped make it such a successful and memorable event for the kids.

Next Week: Month of the Military Child Spirit Week

Next week, we are proud to celebrate "Purple Up! Week of the Military Child". This spirit week runs from April 13 through April 17. We invite all students and staff to participate in our daily dress-up themes to show appreciation and support for our military-connected students and their families:

  • Monday: Boot Camp Day—wear exercise clothing.

  • Tuesday: Patriotic Day—wear red, white, and blue.

  • Wednesday: Purple Up! Day—wear purple to support military families.

  • Thursday: Stars & Sparkles or Spirit Day—wear stars, sparkles, or spirit wear to honor military families.

  • Friday: Red & Camo Day—wear red or camo to remember everyone deployed.

🎉Staff Appreciation Week

Staff Appreciation Week is just around the corner, and we are so excited to celebrate the amazing team that makes our Wolf Pack community so special! Our staff goes above and beyond every single day, and we want to make sure they feel extra loved and valued. To help us shower them with gratitude, we’ve put together a special Amazon Wish List that will help us celebrate our amazing staff! If your family would like to contribute, please check out the link below to easily sponsor an item. Let’s work together to make this a truly unforgettable week for our incredible staff: Support Oak Hill Staff Appreciation Week!

Have a wonderful rest of your week, and go Wolf Pack!

Lost and Found

As we are moving into spring, please check to make sure your child's winter jackets are in your closets and not in the lost and found!  Our lost and found is overflowing with some winter jackets and LOTS of sweatshirts!  We will be donating what is left at the end of April, so please come in and check.

Before we donate, we do check for names, so please consider putting your child's name or initials on an inside label of their sweatshirts and jackets.  We donate many articles of clothing each year because they are not labeled.

April is...

Month of the Military Child

April is the Month of the Military Child! Every year we take the opportunity to recognize military-connected youth for their service and contribution to our community. Fairfax County Public Schools is proud to have over 14,000 military-connected youth as a part of our student body. We appreciate the varied life experiences they bring to our school community, and recognize their strength and resilience. Learn more about Month of the Military Child and FCPS resources for military families.  Next week is our spirit week celebrating military families, including "Purple Up" day on Wednesday, April 15th.

National Arab American Heritage Month

FCPS is proud to celebrate National Arab American Heritage Month in April. This special month provides an opportunity to recognize the history and valuable contributions of Arab Americans. Arab Americans have ancestry in one of the world’s 22 Arab nations, which are located from northern Africa through western Asia. The people of these nations are ethnically, politically, and religiously diverse but share a common cultural and linguistic heritage. Learn more about the heritage months, celebrations, and traditions celebrated in FCPS.

School Library Month

In FCPS libraries, students develop knowledge and skills, experience a sense of belonging, find inspiration and support, and have the ability to freely pursue their personal interests and academic growth.  Oak Hill thanks our librarian, Mrs. Melissa Dolenc, for all she does for students and staff!

Explore all that school library programs have to offer for student learning, and the important roles that school librarians play in the school community.

Autism Acceptance Month

April is Autism Acceptance Month. One in 31 children is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder in the United States, according to the CDC. Our schools and staff play a vital role in creating and ensuring inclusive environments that accommodate and affirm autistic students.

National Assistant Principals Week - April 6-10

Join NASSP, the National Association of Elementary School Principals, and the American Federation of School Administrators in honoring the enormous contributions of assistant principals to student success. Oak Hil thanks our assistant principal, Mrs. Shelia Sobeski, for all she does for our students and staff!
