Dear Wonderful Navy Families,

I hope you have a fantastic Spring Break with your loved ones. Whether you are bound for far-off vacations or staying local to enjoy quality time at home, I hope this week brings you joy and a meaningful opportunity to ground yourselves in family.

I especially hope your Navy Stars enjoy this time off! They work so hard each day learning new skills, following routines, and making good decisions. We are truly grateful to serve such a wonderful community.

A huge thank you to Mrs. Schnabel and the entire Navy staff who made Literacy Night such a fantastic community engagement opportunity for our families. This was the very first event that I attended last year at Navy, and where I felt a strong sense of community! A HUGE thank you to Dan Courain for his unwavering support for our community by leading our efforts in a successful STEAM Fair. I was extremely impressed with the presentations of learning and the thoughtful research from each student.

The Pannutti’s are heading to Costa Rica for one last family adventure before our Oakton senior heads off to college. Kim, Sarah, and I wish each of you a very happy, restful, and safe Spring Break.

Warmly,

Jason

April Awareness Month💙❤️💛💜

Blue awareness ribbon, a hand holding a puzzle-piece heart, and a purple ribbon on an anchor-patterned background.

April is a special time as we recognize several important causes, including the Month of the Military Child, Autism Awareness Month, and Child Abuse Awareness Month. Throughout the month, we will highlight these meaningful initiatives and help students learn the importance of empathy, inclusion, and support for others.

Blue Ribbon Tree and Child Abuse Awareness Month 💙

April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month, a time to come together as a community to support the safety and well-being of all children. We are grateful to the group of students and teachers who helped Mrs. McLaughlin decorate our beautiful Blue Ribbon Tree, a meaningful symbol of awareness and hope.

Throughout April, you may notice blue ribbons and pinwheels displayed around our school and community. These symbols represent the importance of protecting children and promoting healthy, happy childhoods.

To help show our support, Wear Blue Day will take place on Thursday, April 9. Students are encouraged to wear blue as a simple way to raise awareness for this important cause. Thank you for helping us spread this message of care and support 💙

Inclusion Week: Celebrating Every Student 💛

We are excited to celebrate Inclusion Week from April 27–30, a time dedicated to promoting kindness, acceptance, and a sense of belonging for all students. This week highlights the importance of creating a school community where everyone feels valued and included.

As part of the week, a group of our EAC (Enhanced Autism Class) students will participate in the Feet Meet on April 30, and we look forward to cheering them on!

📢 UPDATE: April 3hr ER Cancelled

"Early Release Cancelled" announcement for April featuring a red stamped banner over a pink alarm clock graphic.

Elementary Early Release Wednesday Update for AprilTuesday, April 21, is now a teacher workday and staff development day because of a recently announced special election that will impact all FCPS schools.

Students will now have a traditional full day of instruction and be released at the regular dismissal time on April 22 and April 29, which were previously early release Wednesdays for elementary schools.

This adjustment allows our staff to still have dedicated time for planning, collaboration, and professional learning without reducing instructional time on other school days.Read Dr. Reid’s letter to elementary parents for more details.
