spring break

March 30 - April 3 is Spring Break.

The OES School Office will be closed.

We wish our students and staff a happy and restful break!

Book Fair

Calling all book lovers!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming soon and Mrs. Harmon, our fabulous school librarian, will need lots of extra hands during the school day to assist with set up, run the cash registers, help students select books, and pack up at the end of the fair. There are evening opportunities as well as shifts during the school day. No experience necessary! Volunteering at the book fair is a great chance to help directly with students in the school, and accompany your own children as they select books as well. Please take a look at your schedule and SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER HERE.

If you have any questions, please contact Jessica Sereno. If you are only able to be there for a portion of a shift, just note that in your sign up comments and we can split up shifts as necessary.

Important Update: In order to volunteer this year, you MUST have started the volunteer process through the FCPS Volunteer site. You should apply for Level 2. It is acceptable if the process is not complete, but it must be started.

Thanks for your help making this fun event successful for everyone!

Oakton Elementary School is currently in FIRST PLACE in the i9 Sports “I Love My School” Writing Contest.

We still need your help to stay there and win that $1,000!

The deadline has been extended to April 6, which is also the day the winner will be announced. Right now, 18% of our school has submitted so let’s keep the momentum going and build on our lead.

Haven’t submitted yet? It’s quick and easy. No more paper forms will be accepted, so please be sure to fill out the Google Form online. Already submitted? You can still help by reminding friends at the bus stop, at pickup, or in your group chats to submit too.

Let’s finish strong and keep Oakton in the lead!

autism awareness week

Oakton Elementary is proud to celebrate Autism Awareness Week from Tuesday, April 7, through Thursday, April 9. This week reminds us that every student is a valued part of our community and deserves respect and belonging.

Throughout the week, students will participate in morning announcements, classroom talks, and library activities. These lessons focus on:

  • Understanding Differences: Learning that everyone’s brain works differently and that differences are a normal part of being human.

  • Strengths and Neurodiversity: Recognizing the unique talents that neurodiverse individuals bring to our school.

  • Inclusion in Action: Finding simple ways to help everyone feel welcome and supported at school.

Thursday, April 9 is Autism Awareness Day. We invite all students and staff to wear blue or a previous year’s Autism Awareness shirt to show their support!
