Lion Leader TV Production Field Trip |
Our 6th Grade Lion Leaders recently visited our FCPS TV Studio at Sprague Center. They impressed the Sprague staff with their collaboration skills learned working on our daily news show at London Towne and learned from professional mentors to try out equipment and produce two news segments in a professional TV studio!
First, students worked in two teams, writing scripts for the anchors to follow as the interviewed their chaperones. Then, each student learned a particular role on a TV production team by working with a professional mentor. Some roles students tried out were camera operator, graphics, teleprompter, anchor, director, and producer. Everyone worked together to produce two interview segments, which we recorded to share on our morning news show! We wrapped up by discussing careers in broadcast journalism and reviewing our content!
Check out our latest LTES Website Feature to see the professionally-produced interview segments and behind the scenes photos!
**Please note that there will also be non-edible treats options such as fun pencils and stickers.
**Tenga en cuenta que también habrá opciones de golosinas no comestibles, como divertidos lápices y pegatinas.

Every Minute Counts! |
At London Towne, we strive to make every minute of the school day meaningful. Lately, we have noticed an increase in morning tardiness, and we want to share how those "just a few minutes" impact our entire learning community.
The Impact of Being Tardy When a student arrives late, they often miss crucial morning meetings, goal-setting for the day, and core instructional time. However, it also creates a "ripple effect" for their classmates. Because our safety protocols require younger students to have a "Walking Buddy" to get to class, every late arrival requires two students to leave their classroom to serve as an escort. This means THREE students are missing out on learning instead of just one.
Our New Tardy Procedures To help minimize these disruptions to the classroom, we are implementing the following procedures:
-
Grouped Transitions: Students arriving late may be asked to wait briefly in the office until another student from a nearby pod and/or classroom arrives. This will reduce the number of interruptions to our classrooms.
-
Scheduled Buddy Support: Classroom teachers may choose a more convenient time (such as a natural break in a lesson) to send a buddy to the office to collect late arrivals.
How You Can Help We know morning routines can be a whirlwind! Setting out clothes the night before or aiming to arrive just 10 minutes before the bell can make a world of difference in your child's confidence and academic success.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our classrooms focused and our students on track!
