Whether you’re returning to VES or moving on to a new adventure, we need to know your plans for next year.

Whether you have one Viking or a whole crew, please submit a response for each child. Your input helps us stay organized and ready for whatever the new year brings! This information is important as state regulations require that we determine the educational intentions of students leaving FCPS.

If you have moved or plan on moving, or have any questions, please contact Lauren Brownlee to update your information.

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION

There is nothing quite like the excitement of welcoming a new class of Vikings to the VES family!

If you have a child turning 5 by September 30—or know a new family who just moved into the neighborhood—Early registration helps us plan for the best possible start for our newest learners.

Choose the way that works best for you:

Online: Visit fcps.edu/online-registration (our preferred method!)

Visit Us: Drop by the school office to pick up a paper registration packet.

Help us grow our community by sharing this with your friends and neighbors!

  • Welcoming environment
  • Communication
  • Student success
  • Advocacy
  • Family and school partnerships
  • Community partnerships

Help us better recognize, understand, respect, and address family strengths and needs in our schools.

‼️IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR PREK + ECCB FAMILIES: ADDTIONAL DAYS ADDED

Red and black gradient with 'additional days added to PreK + ECCB' in white writing

Due to school closures during this year’s winter storm, additional school days have been added for students in our PreK and ECCB programs. These added days ensure that our programs meet the required instructional hours for grant funding. The updated last day of school for our PreK students will be Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

DRIVE LIKE YOUR KIDS GO TO SCHOOL HERE

Red & black gradient with boy smiling with 'Drive like your kids go to school here' in white writing

Please help keep our Viking Community safe!  As you sail through the parking lot, remember to slow your speed, and watch carefully for students.  Our families cross on Center Street/Locust Street and need everyone to slow down. Thank you for being part of the Viking Crew!

ARRIVAL, DISMISSAL + ABSENCES

Red and black gradient with 'arrival, dismissal + absences' in white writing

Our Viking crew needs your help to keep our ship sailing smoothly each day! Please report any Viking absence by emailing ViennaElem.Attendance@fcps.edu or calling 703-937-6066. All absences should be reported by 9:30 AM.

For early pickups or changes in your child’s dismissal plans (before 2:00), please email the details to ViennaElem.Attendance@fcps.edu.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!

Please make sure your child is in school every day, right up until vacation starts. Our teachers will be teaching, and our students will be learning. Yet, it’s harder to teach and it’s harder to learn when too many students are absent. Spring Break this year is from Friday, March 20th - Monday, April 6th. See you on April 7th all refreshed and ready to learn!

STAY IN THE LOOP, VIKINGS!

All of our past newsletters are archived and ready for you to review. Keeping our community informed and connected is our top priority!
