It was SCA Career Day today! These 1st grade students are all dressed up in what they want to be someday when they grow up. We also saw a lawyer (with a brief in hand!), an Air Force pilot, a veterinarian, Wonder Woman and so much more. Great participation today, and a fun day to dream of what is possible.

Dear Wakefield Forest Families,
As the third quarter comes to a close, a palpable energy has filled our hallways as we danced our way into Spring Break! This week was a whirlwind of discovery, creativity, and community.
🚀 Innovation in Action: The STEAM Fair
Our annual STEAM Fair was nothing short of a masterclass in curiosity. From sustainable energy models to complex coding projects, our students proved that they aren't just consumers of technology—they are the creators of the future.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Shin and Mrs. Trimble, as well as our volunteers and families for your support of this event.
🌎 A World of Discovery: Grade 3 International Day
The third grade took us on a trip around the globe without ever leaving the gymnasium! International Day was a beautiful tapestry of cultures. It was a powerful reminder of the diversity that makes our school community so vibrant and strong.
🌟 More Highlights from the Week
Beyond our big fairs and festivals, our students have been busy exploring the world (and the web!):
-
Woodson Computer Science Session: Our tech-savvy learners stayed after school to dive deep into coding at the Woodson CS session. It’s inspiring to see students voluntarily tackling logic puzzles and syntax!
-
Grade 3 at Colvin Run Mill: Our third graders took their science lessons on the road! They visited Colvin Run Mill to see simple machines in action, learning exactly how gears, levers, and pulleys helped power history.
-
Grade 4 at the National Symphony Orchestra: Our fourth graders enjoyed a sophisticated afternoon at the NSO. From the soaring violins to the booming percussion, it was a world-class experience in musical storytelling.
-
Grade 2 at the Museum of Natural History: Our 2nd graders enjoyed viewing the cherry blossoms at full peak on their way to learn more about different life cycles and habitats as they grow and change.
🌷 Looking Ahead: Holidays and Rest
As we transition into the break, we want to wish a joyful celebration to all our families observing upcoming holidays. Whether you are celebrating Easter, Passover, Eid al-Fitr, or simply the arrival of the Spring Equinox, we hope your home is filled with warmth and laughter.
Thank you.

April is the Month of the Military Child, and at Wakefield Forest, we are proud to celebrate the incredible strength, resilience, and spirit of our military-connected students.
Join us on Purple Up Day, April 15th, by wearing purple to show your support and appreciation. As a Purple Star School, this day is especially meaningful to our community. It is a chance for all of us to stand together and recognize the sacrifices our military families make, especially the children who walk our halls each day.
Let’s turn Wakefield Forest purple and show our students just how much they are seen, valued, and celebrated!
