FCPS School Year Calendar
Good afternoon, Eagles,
I hope everyone is ready for a weekend with some nice and warmer weather!
Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of attending the regional science fair and was truly impressed by the depth of thinking, creativity, and commitment demonstrated by our students. Their projects reflected not only strong scientific understanding but also curiosity and perseverance. Below is the list of award winners. We are incredibly proud of each of them and the hard work they put into their research and presentations.
I also want to extend a sincere thank you to our science department, and especially to Dr. Fontana, for her leadership and dedication in supporting our students through this process. Events like this do not happen without a great deal of behind-the-scenes effort, and we are grateful for all that she and the team do.
We are also proud to share that Mr. Julian Gaither, one of our safety and security assistants, has been selected as the Region 3 Operational Employee of the Year. This recognition is especially meaningful as he was nominated by both students and staff. Mr. Gaither builds strong, positive relationships with our students while consistently upholding our school expectations. He represents the balance of care and accountability that is so important in our school community, and we are fortunate to have him at Edison.
As a reminder, next week marks the final week of the third quarter. Please take a few minutes to check in with your student and ensure that any outstanding assignments or reassessments have been completed. With spring break right around the corner, this is an important time to stay focused and finish the quarter strong.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Amanda Burke Principal

Thanks to your generosity, the Edison PTSA provided $60 Aldi gift cards to families facing food insecurity over the winter break. The number of families requesting assistance this year has increased significantly, and we are grateful for the continued support that makes this possible. As Spring Break approaches, we are again working to support Edison families by providing grocery store gift cards to help them stock up on essentials while school is closed. If you are able, please consider contributing toward the purchase of these gift cards. Our goal is to support 50 families with $50 gift cards, and any amount you give will make a meaningful difference for our students and their families.
To donate, please visit https://edisonhsptsa.givebacks.com/shop/items/67a31709fa by Saturday, March 21.
We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Parent University on March 26, 2026, from 6:00–7:00 PM as we focus on strengthening our school community through belonging and connection. Research shows that when students feel a strong sense of belonging at school, they are more engaged, confident, and successful—and that connection is even more powerful when families feel included and involved as well.
The evening will begin with a brief presentation on the importance of feeling connected to your school community, followed by breakout discussions where parents can share ideas and explore ways we can work together to improve everyone’s sense of belonging at Edison. We hope you will join us in this important conversation and partner with us to make Edison a place where every student and family feels heard, valued, and included.
If you are unable to attend in person, we invite you to join us virtually using this link for the presentation portion of the evening so you can still be part of the conversation.
RSVP Information: While RSVPs are not required, we would greatly appreciate it if you could let us know whether you plan to attend. This will help us best prepare materials and space for the evening. Please RSVP by March 19, 2026, using this link.
We look forward to seeing you on March 26!
 Spring Sports have Officially started!

It will look at how the goals of inclusion have continued to shift and evolve, as we learn more about diversity and identity. Participants will be invited to reflect on their own contexts and consider next steps for advocacy and action.
