Dear Hayfield Community -

As we approach the end of the third quarter on March 27th, we encourage all students to stay focused and finish strong. This is an important time to prioritize completing assignments, preparing for assessments, and taking advantage of reassessment opportunities to improve grades. Staying organized and communicating with teachers can make a big difference in these final days. 🗨️DiBari's Dispatch

Hey Hawk Family–

It was another great week here at Hayfield! We celebrated with our Spring Pep Rally full of recognitions and games, had a fun “Pi-Day” with the math honor society, and had a wide variety of field trips. There’s always great things going on here at Hayfield! Also, as we close out the week, I want to wish a happy Eid al-Fitr to all of those who celebrate!

This coming week is the end of the third quarter. Please make sure that your students are up to date on all of their work, and that they are finishing strong. Hopefully they have been track all quarter, but certainly check in with them to see that they have been communicating with teachers and completing everything they need to. The end of third quarter tends to sneak up on students faster than any of the others.

Also, I want to reiterate something from last week that I need your help with. We are working hard on getting students into class in a timely manner, which also includes arrival to school. We have been working to get students through Open Gate in a safe and time efficient manner, and I’m confident that lines are cleared well before the opening bell. However, I have noticed that we have a large number of students arriving to the building late. Please help us set a high standard by getting students to school on time, which in turn supports our high expectation of learning in the classroom. I appreciate your partnership!

I wish you all a fantastic upcoming week as we close down the quarter. Thank you all for your continued investment in our students and in each other…Go Hawks!

AP Human Geography

AP Human Geography students are currently learning about Urbanization. In this unit, there are several city models that need to be aware of and may be tested on in May, on the national exam. To give them a hands-on opportunity to own their knowledge, the students recreated their city models on top of cakes.

Students were required to label the model sectors, define the strengths and effectiveness of their model, provide a real-world city, country for their model, and list weaknesses of their model. By working with the city models in this way, the student will have an example ready to call upon to use during the test in May.

Theatre Trip!

Our theatre students recently had the exciting opportunity to travel to New York City to experience the magic of live performance. During the trip, students explored the city’s rich theatre culture and attended a Broadway show, gaining valuable insight into professional productions. It was an unforgettable experience that brought classroom learning to life.

Hayfield HS Bands Assessment Results

The Hayfield High School Bands participated in the Virginia Band and Orchestra Director's Association State Concert Band Assessments on Wednesday March 11 and Thursday March 12. All three ensembles, the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble, earned Superior Ratings from all stage judges and the sightreading judge. This is the highest possible rating the bands could earn.

By earning Superior Ratings in the Marching Band Assessment this past October and these Concert Band Assessments, the Hayfield Bands have once again earned the "Virginia Honor Band" distinction. This is the fifth year in a row the bands have earned this distinction, and the 8th in school history. Congratulations to our band students!

Kiss and Ride Information

If you plan to wait to drop off your student until the doors open, please utilize the parking lot by the basketball courts. This helps ensure a safe and smooth arrival process for all students and staff. We ask that families do not park in the staff parking lot, as it creates safety concerns for those walking into the building. Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our campus safe.
