Happy Thursday!
This week may have been short, but it was absolutely packed with excitement! Between a wild storm shifting our schedule and some mischievous leprechauns visiting our Kindergarteners, there was never a dull moment.
We also kicked off an incredible Boosterthon week! A huge thank you for your generosity. Because of your support, we’ll be able to fund upcoming field trips and continue beautifying our outdoor classrooms. We can’t wait to see everyone at the Fun Run this upcoming Tuesday!

We are coming together to honor our veterans, service members, and first responders with a meaningful trek around our CES campus. To symbolize the commitment of our heroes, participants are invited to carry a backpack filled with non-perishable food items. Following the hike, all collected goods will be donated to a local military food bank to support those who serve. If you would like to donate to this cause, click HERE. We hope to see you there!

Pre-K and Early Head Start Programs
FCPS Pre-K and Early Head Start programs provide a high-quality early learning experience for qualifying children with economic and educational risk factors, ages 6 weeks to 4 years, living in Fairfax County.
- Pre-K prioritizes 4-year-old applicants but also accepts applications for children who will be 3 years old by September 30 of the same year.
- Early Head Start is located at three elementary schools — Clearview, Crestwood, and Dogwood — and accepts applications from pregnancy to 2 years old.
Families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Space is limited and provided based on need, not on a first-come, first-served basis.
Applications are accepted online, by email, by mail, or in person at the program office at 7423 Camp Alger Avenue, Falls Church, Virginia 22042.
If you have a question about the application process or status, please call 703-208-7900 (English) or 703-208-7901 (Spanish).
Teamwork makes the dream work! 🛠️✨ Our students are busy building more than just projects—they’re strengthening their problem-solving and collaboration skills. This is Portrait of a Graduate in action! 🎓🤝💡
Community Conversations: Share Your Thoughts With Dr. Reid 🗣️💬
As a listening leader, connecting with community members across our school division is critical to FCPS Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid. Her Community Conversations are opportunities for you to share your thoughts and ask questions. Events will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) on:
Click on a date to register to attend that event. Registration is not required, but helps with planning, especially for child care and interpretation services. Events are open to all. Visit the superintendent’s engagement page for the most up-to-date information.
💜 April is the Month of the Military Child 💜
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is gearing up to honor and celebrate its military-connected youth in April, the Month of the Military Child, and on Purple Up! Day!
This year, Virginia will celebrate Purple Up! Day on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Purple Up! Day is a special day for communities to come together and wear purple as a visible gesture of support for our military-connected youth and their families. Purple symbolizes the combined colors of all branches of the military.
Volunteer and Chaperone Information
The new volunteer management system, Volunteer FCPS, allows individuals to search and register for volunteer opportunities at our school or across the school district.
Anyone interested in volunteering with FCPS, including Field Trip Chaperones must:
- Create a profile in Volunteer FCPS.
- Register for opportunities through Volunteer FCPS.
- Sign in and out of schools using the visitor kiosk on EVERY visit – no exceptions.
Field trip chaperone volunteers should apply as Level 2 (not requiring a comprehensive background check that includes fingerprinting).
All new volunteers are required to sign a Volunteer Certification Statement. This statement is a legal confirmation that you have no history of violent felonies, physical or sexual crimes against children, or crimes of moral turpitude (dishonesty, fraud, things that are immoral by society’s standards).
Those sneaky leprechauns were at it again! 🍀✨ Our Kindergarteners were all smiles as they discovered the 'lucky' mess left behind in their classrooms. A little bit of magic (and a lot of green) made for the best morning! 🌈👟💚
2026 Special Education Family Conference
Dr. Shelley Moore will facilitate our keynote address titled The Evolution of Inclusion. Sign up to serve as a volunteer via the 2026 Special Education Family Conference Volunteer Interest Form by Thursday, March 19. We will need volunteers for a variety of needs. MyPDE credit will be awarded to staff volunteers and staff attendees. Volunteer hours will also be awarded to student volunteers.
Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten helps children learn and practice the social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives.
Fairfax County public schools typically conduct kindergarten registration events, including orientation, in the spring. Eligible children can be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps schools prepare and ensure they have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.
If your child will attend our school, please gather necessary documents and complete registration forms as soon as possible.
FCPS offers support and resources for all families to help with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For support in other languages, please visit the FCPS Registration webpage.
Also, join FCPS staff for Countdown to Kindergarten, a virtual event designed to help families prepare for this exciting transition! The webinar will take place on Friday, March 27, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
During this webinar, families will learn practical tips and essential information to support their child's smooth and successful start to kindergarten in Fairfax County Public Schools. Register to receive the event link.
A 'sweet' start to St. Patrick's Day! 🌈🍬 Our staff loved the celebration, and we’re so proud of our students for staying focused on their work—and for being so kind to their teachers! 📝🙌
