Friday was a big day at Lemon Road! Not only did we have an amazing Staff Volleyball Game in the evening, but we welcomed Tysons West Orthodontics and Children's Dentistry to several K - 3 classrooms, and Victor O'Neill studios returned for professional photos. We appreciate so many parents who volunteered their time during the day, throughout the evening event, and by making donations!
The volleyball game was so much fun. Thank you to our PTA, staff volleyball players, volunteers, Zest Squad, and families for your support! There has been a request for additional shirts to be sold, look for additional information in the next week.
Victor O'Neill was at Lemon Road to take individual spring pictures, club photos for our yearbook as well as the annual 6th grade class photo! Click this link to purchase the 6th grade panoramic photo as a Lemon Road keepsake! Students who had an individual portrait taken will have a link sent to them in a week or two. Families with questions should email Victor O'Neill Studios directly at Underclass@vosphoto.com.
Last Wednesday, our Eco Defense Squad held two events afterschool! First, they held our spring swap to encourage reusing rather than throwing away unneeded items or purchasing new. Second, Mrs. Busch and members of the squad sold fruits, vegetables & cider from a local farm. Look for the farm to be back the next few Wednesdays during dismissal!
This Wednesday is a 3-Hour Early Release Day for teacher planning & professional development. Thank you for finding ways for your children to return home at 11:55 a.m. to give our staff time to plan and learn together. Please remember that childcare is available only for those that require supervision. Unless your child was invited to participate in a learning session, we cannot accommodate last-minute changes for additional children in our childcare groups at this time.
Looking forward to a great week of learning and spring weather!

Students in grades 3-6 participate in Virginia state assessments each year. These assessments measure how students are learning the state standards. Below is the current schedule for the spring Standards of Learning tests at Lemon Road. More information will be provided as we get closer to the testing window and is available on the SOL Tests in Elementary School page on the FCPS website. Lemon Road Elementary has a strong and intentional focus on family engagement. We know your children learn better when we partner with our families and offer two-way communication and learning opportunities. From monthly PTA meetings, staff events like Family Night & POG Night, grade level events, concerts, chaperoning opportunities on multiple field trips each year, Principal Coffees, and our PTA events like the Volleyball Game, movie nights, restaurant nights, and Spring Fair, we hope you feel a part of our community. Our school communicates through weekly newsletters (like this), weekly teacher emails, quarterly interims, fall conferences, Talking Points messages, and progress reports. We hope you will take a few minutes to respond to the personal link emailed to you with the subject line, "FCPS Family Engagement Survey" sent to you by FCPS to tell us how we are doing! The survey can be taken on any device, but should be submitted by Monday, March 23 at 11:59 p.m.

About 70% of the FCPS budget comes from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. They are currently reviewing the county’s 2027 Fiscal Year Advertised Budget and are considering possible adjustments before the final county budget is adopted in May.
