Dear Haycock Families,
Last week was such a busy week! We loved seeing so many of you in the building as part of the audience for the Spanish plays, seeing the robot creations of our 1st grade students, and at our annual Heritage Night put on by the PTA. We celebrated our students and our diverse community in so many different ways last week.
If you have a neighbor with a rising Kindergarten student, encourage them to attend our Kindergarten Orientation this Wednesday, March 18 from 2:45 to 3:45. We are looking forward to welcoming our newest Cougars and their families to Haycock.
This Wednesday, March 18 is also our next 3 hour early release day. Students will be dismissed at 1:05 allowing teachers to engage in professional learning, plan together, and welcome next year's Kindergarteners and their families. We ask that you not change your plans that you communicated to us for your child(ren). Last minute changes have been especially difficult and challenging for the office staff. We work hard to ensure that we know how every one of our over 800 students are safely getting home that day. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
With appreciation for your partnership,
Liz Beaty, Principal embeaty@fcps.edu
Heather Boyd, AP HABoyd@fcps.edu
Krystal Styles, AP krstyles@fcps.edu

💵County Seeking Budget Input
About 70% of the FCPS budget comes from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. They are currently reviewing the county’s 2027 Fiscal Year Advertised Budget and are considering possible adjustments before the final county budget is adopted in May. Provide the county with feedback on how you would like your tax dollars spent by completing this survey.
📲Phones Off, Learning On
FCPS’ cell phone policy helps students focus, learn, and engage. When students put their phones away, they have more face-to-face interactions with their peers and teachers and more opportunities to develop resilience and problem-solving skills. Please remind your child that:
-
Cell phones and personal devices (earbuds, headsets, other items connected to the internet) must be off and away for the entire school day (bell to bell).
-
Smart watches that serve a dual purpose may be worn, but the phone features (texting, Internet viewing, and calls) are to be off when phone use is prohibited.
If you need to contact your child during the school day, please call our front office at 703-531-4000. Visit our cell phone policy webpage for more information and answers to frequently asked questions.
💗FCPS Cares
Take a moment to acknowledge and affirm a Haycock staff member when they go above and beyond in demonstrating care and dedication that ensures every one of our students is seen, heard, and valued. FCPS Cares.
