A Message from Ms. Kirkland
Dear Families,
It has been another busy and productive week of learning at Mount Eagle! As we move further into March, our students are working hard and staying focused as we approach the end of the third quarter.
Please note a few important upcoming dates:

Wednesday, March 18 – Early Release Wednesday: Students will dismiss at 12:30 PM.

Friday, March 20 – Holiday: There will be no school for students or staff, and the office will be closed.
The following week marks the final week of Quarter 3, and students are working diligently to finish units, complete projects, and demonstrate their learning before spring break. We are proud of their effort and perseverance.
Thank you to all of our families for participating in our recent Coin Wars fundraiser! Students had so much fun keeping track of their rankings and cheering one another on. Because of your generosity, we are raising funds that will help our PTO continue to provide support for field trips and after-school clubs. We will share the final rankings next week—stay tuned!

Wednesday, March 18 is an Early Release Wednesday. Students will dismiss at 12:30 pm.
Friday, March 20 is a holiday for students and staff. The main office will be closed on this day.

Family Engagement Survey
FCPS is administering our Family Engagement Survey, which will be open from Monday, March 9, to Monday, March 23. Your feedback is critical in helping us to better recognize, understand, respect, and address family strengths and needs in our schools.
Survey topics include:
- Welcoming environment.
- Communication.
- Student success.
- Advocacy.
- Family and school partnerships.
- Community partnerships.
The survey will be available in English, Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Pashto, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.
Parents/caregivers will receive a survey link via email from FCPS on March 9. A survey link will also be posted on FCPS’ website. Paper surveys will be available at each school. Please stay tuned for more information.
Share Your Thoughts With Dr. Reid
As a listening leader, connecting with community members across our school division is critical to Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid. Dr. Reid’s Community Conversations are opportunities for you to share your thoughts and ask questions. Events will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) on: Monday, April 13, at Belle View Elementary School.
Child care and interpretation services will be provided. Events are open to all. Visit the superintendent’s engagement page for the most up-to-date information.
2026 Special Education Family Conference: RescheduledFCPS’ 2026 Special Education Family Conference has been rescheduled to Saturday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Marshall High School. Updated conference details are now available on the Special Education Family Conference webpage. Please register for the event. If you registered before, please re-register for the new date. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this date change may cause and appreciate your understanding.
PTO Events
At Mount Eagle, every parent is a member of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). It's a great way to connect with other parents, learn about how to support your child, and have fun! There are many ways you can share your voice, talents, and time. Check out the PTO Website for more information. It's available in multiple languages.

Join our PTO for their regular meeting on Zoom from 6:30-7:30 pm. We will be discussing plans for several spring events. Come learn how you can be a part of creating rich experiences for our whole community.

🍎 Make Every Day Count! The Importance of Attendance
Our goal is to maintain a chronic absenteeism rate below 10% by the end of this school year. Our current absentee rate is 14.9%.
As you plan upcoming trips and other family events, please remember the importance of sending your child to school every day. Review the FCPS School Year Calendar and try to plan any time away during breaks from school.
Children who show up for school regularly develop fundamental reading and math skills while building a habit of good attendance that will carry them into college and careers. Research shows that children who were chronically absent (missing 18 days or more) in kindergarten and first grade were far less likely to read proficiently at the end of third grade.
Learn how families can help form good attendance habits.
