ATTENDANCE

SCHS ATTENDANCE INFORMATION 2025-26

Recently, we have seen an increase in students leaving campus without following proper check-out procedures. This has resulted in inaccurate records regarding student location and safety. To ensure our staff can account for every student and to retrieve students in the least disruptive way to classroom instruction, the following procedures are required, effective immediately:

  • 2-Hour Advance Notice Required: All early dismissal requests must be submitted at least two hours in advance. We will no longer process last-minute phone calls or messages for immediate pickup. Please plan appointments accordingly, as requests failing to meet this lead time will not be honored.
  • Illness & Clinic Protocol: If a student feels ill, they MUST report to the School Clinic. Students will only be dismissed for medical reasons after being evaluated by the clinic staff and checked out from that location.
  • Official Office Check-Out: All students leaving early must physically check out through the Main Office. Any student who leaves campus without following this procedure will be marked with an unexcused absence.
  • Attendance Corrections: If a student is marked UNV for a specific period due to lateness or a clerical error, the student must speak with that teacher directly. The teacher will then update the attendance or notify the attendance team. The Attendance Offices will not alter period-specific attendance without teacher verification.

These procedures are in place to ensure student safety and a focused learning environment. We thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain an accurate and secure campus.

Report a Full-Day Absence-The fastest way is to use ParentVUE.

Message from Dr. Khoshaba

Greetings SoCo family,

This past week was nothing short of extraordinary at South County, as our students achieved remarkable success in classrooms, competitions, performances, and service. I could not be prouder, not only of their accomplishments, but of the kindness, integrity, and care for others they show every single day. Our students prove that when excellence is matched with compassion and character, our entire SoCo community shines. Now, on to this week’s reflections …

School Culture

A Season to Remember!

Congratulations to our South County Boys basketball team for an outstanding season that culminated this week with competing on the state stage. While the championship ultimately slipped just out of reach, the team came incredibly close and represented our school with tremendous determination, resilience, and heart. We are immensely proud of the character, teamwork, and sportsmanship they displayed all season long, qualities that make our Stallions champions in every way that truly matters.

Values in Action

Each month at South County, we celebrate students who exemplify the character and spirit that define our school community. Our Core Values, Honesty, Trust, Curiosity, and Hope, serve as the compass that guides how we learn, lead, and support one another. The students and staff recognized below have demonstrated these values in meaningful ways, reminding us that excellence is not only measured by achievement, but also by integrity, thoughtful inquiry, and belief in a brighter future for our community.

Nathaly

Nathaly's words are a powerful display of trust. She doesn't just offer to be there; she extends her own trust in her classmates, signaling that her bravery is just as important as her reliability.

Isaac

As a fellow senior who has known Isaac since freshman year, one student shared a powerful example of Isaac’s character. While studying after school for an important calculus test, Isaac discovered an answer key left on the teacher’s desk, but instead of keeping it or using it, he immediately turned it in and explained exactly where he found it. Although the test was important for college and he did not receive a perfect score, Isaac’s choice demonstrated that honesty and integrity matter more than an easy advantage.

Landon

Landon consistently supports his peers when they are struggling with their work and is always willing to lend a helping hand. His positive sense of humor often lifts the spirits of those around him and helps create a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere within his friend group. Through his kindness, encouragement, and ability to bring optimism to others during difficult moments, Landon helps inspire a sense of hope and connection among his peers.

ibraheem

Ibraheem shows curiosity by asking thoughtful questions like “Why does this happen?” and “How could we try it differently?” He experiments with new ideas, isn’t afraid to make mistakes, and uses what he learns to explore further. Ibraheem listens to others, connects their ideas with his own, and follows up on interesting leads to learn more.

brianna

Brianna’s belief in her classmates’ abilities and her commitment to their shared goals encourages others to place their trust in her. She consistently supports and uplifts her peers, helping them feel confident in their contributions and valued as part of the team. Through her positive encouragement and dependable leadership, Brianna helps build a strong sense of trust and collaboration among those around her.

strausser

Mr. Strausser is a valued mentor and teacher who makes a meaningful impact on his students each day. He creates engaging learning opportunities that help students grow academically while also encouraging curiosity and confidence in the classroom. Through his guidance and support, Mr. Strausser inspires students to believe in themselves and take full advantage of the opportunities to learn and succeed.

Orchestrating Excellence: Top Honors Earned

I am proud to share that all three South County High School orchestras earned straight Superior ratings both on stage and in sight-reading at the state assessment last weekend. Like a beautifully tuned symphony where every instrument plays its part with precision and heart, our students came together to perform at the highest level. Their dedication, preparation, and teamwork made this an achievement our entire school community can celebrate.

CTE Students Step Into the Future

This week, 18 of our Career and Technical Education (CTE) students attended the Instruction 2 Industry Career Expo. Accompanied by three of our CTE faculty members, students spent the day connecting with local employers, learning about high-demand industries, and exploring the certifications and skills needed to succeed in the modern workforce. We are proud of our students for taking this proactive step toward their future careers!

DECA

Basketball Bash Is Around the Corner!

Get ready, Stallions! This upcoming week on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m., our first-ever Student vs. Staff Basketball Game is taking over the court! The evening will be bursting with school spirit, energy, and friendly competition, kicking off with our incredible students from the Best Buddies program showcasing their talents. They will be followed by an exciting student vs. parent quarter where families can jump into the action. The second half brings two high-octane quarters of students facing off against staff in a showdown you won’t want to miss, all energized by our spirited cheer squads and some of our most enthusiastic faculty. This is the perfect chance for our Stallion community to unite, cheer loudly, and celebrate the talent, teamwork, and pride that make SoCo so special. Bring your friends and family, wear your Stallion colors, and get ready for a night of fun, energy, and unforgettable memories!

basketball

That’s a wrap for this week! Remember to stay inspired, stay kind, and spread positivity wherever you go.

Celebrating Arts in Our Schools

The Council for Art Education (CFAE) administers Youth Art Month. Youth Art Month encourages support for quality school art programs, and promotes art material safety. The program provides a medium for recognizing skills developed through visual arts experiences unlike any other curriculum subjects, including:

  • Problem solving
  • Creativity
  • Observation
  • Communication

Art shows, special exhibits, fundraisers, and school and community activities take place annually, traditionally during March, to celebrate visual art education for grades K-12.

March has also been designated by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) for the observance of Music In Our Schools Month® (MIOSM®), the time of year when music education becomes the focus of schools across the nation. The purpose of MIOSM is to raise awareness of the importance of music education for all children – and to remind citizens that school is where all children should have access to music. MIOSM is an opportunity for music teachers to bring their music programs to the attention of the school and the community, and to display the benefits that school music brings to students of all ages.

Theatre In Our Schools (TIOS) is a celebration of theatre in our schools and schools in our theatres. Sponsored by the American Alliance for Theatre & Education (AATE) and the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA), the goals of TIOS are to raise public awareness of the impact of theatre education and draw attention to the need for more access to quality programs in and out of school for all students. While TIOS presentations and advocacy may happen anytime in schools, theatres, and other public spaces, AATE and EdTA will recognize and promote March as the official Theatre In Our Schools month.
