3-Hour Early Release

Crossfield will dismiss at 1:00pm on Wednesday, March 25th. We will use families’ decisions from February 25th as the default decision.

Children requiring supervision from 1-4pm will remain here at Crossfield and then dismiss at 4pm.

If you need to change your decision from February 25th, or if you have forgotten your decision, please complete this form.


Eid

Eid al-Fitr is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. It is a joyful celebration of gratitude, prayer, charity, and time spent with family and community. 🌙


nowruz

Nowruz, meaning “new day,” is the Persian New Year and marks the first day of spring.


SOL Testing Dates

Students in grades 3-8 participate in state assessments each year.  These assessments measure how students are learning the state standards.  Below is the current schedule for the spring Standards of Learning tests at Crossfield Elementary. 

Integrated Reading and Writing - Gr 5 -- Tuesday, March 24

Science - Gr 5 --Tuesday, May 12

Reading - Gr 3 and 4 -- Wednesday, May 13

Reading - Gr 5 and 6 -- Friday, May 15

Math - Gr 3 and 4 -- Monday, May 18

Math - Gr 5 and 6 -- Thursday, May 21

Make-up testing -- Ongoing during the SOL testing window

Retakes for identified students -- May 28 - June 3

Purple Star Designation

Crossfield is currently working towards earning our Purple Star Designation in conjunction with Dr. Reid’s goal for FCPS to be a Purple Heart Division by 2026-2027. 2026 Special Education Family Conference: Rescheduled

FCPS’ 2026 Special Education Family Conference has been rescheduled to Saturday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Marshall High School. Updated conference details are now available on the Special Education Family Conference webpage. Please register for the event. If you registered before, please re-register for the new date. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this date change may cause and appreciate your understanding.


Franklin Farm Swim Team

Calling all swimmers ages 5-18! The Franklin Farm Froggers will be opening registration to new and experienced swimmers beginning March 29th. Come join our fun Frogger family! It's the best way to spend your summer, lots of social opportunities, great teamwork and of course many splashes!

Swimmers must be able to pass a standard swim test to join the team and register as a member of Franklin Farm pools (memberships are available to families outside of FF). Volunteer hours for parents are required as well. We can't wait to have you be a part of our team!


SLHS International Night

South Lakes High School is hosting our International Night on March 25th from 6:00-8:30pm! International Night celebrates the diversity in the South Lakes and Reston community through interactive booths, a fashion show, and performances! This event is free and open to the public


Left Behind

March typically brings variable temperatures to us. The Left Behind is quite full now; please encourage your student(s) to claim their belongings. All items left behind at the end of quarter(March 27th) will be donated to The Closet in Herndon.
