Physical Education
Currently we are in our hand dribbling unit in which students are participating in a variety of dribbling drills and activities to help them improve their hand dribbling skills. While the focus of the unit is dribbling, the students are given some time to practice shooting at our basketball hoops. In addition to dribbling and shooting, our students in 3rd-5th will also be working on passing skills to prepare for the modified basketball games they will be participating in during the last week of the unit.
Sneaker Reminder
In order for students to safely participate in all our PE activities and to perform to the best of their abilities, we need them to wear sneakers to PE class. Please have your child wear sneakers to school on their PE days or have them bring a pair of sneakers in their backpacks to change into for PE class. Please reach out to us if you need to know which days your child has PE.
Family Dance Night
We hope everyone who came out to this year’s Family Dance Night had a great time. We look forward to doing it again next year in our NEW gym. A special thank you to Mr. Perez for loaning us his sound system and to the PTA for helping make it the best dance yet.

 2026 Read-A-Thon is Live!
It's not too late to join our 2026 Read-A-Thon! Students are tracking reading minutes completed outside of school hours and can earn exciting prizes along the way. Whether your child loves curling up with a book, reading with family, or listening to an audiobook, every minute counts towards our school-wide goal of 100,000 minutes for extra recess!
How to Participate:
- Register your reader at app.99pledges.com/fund/brenmarpark
- Look for an email with two links - one for you to track reading minutes, and one to share with friends for optional fundraising
- Track reading minutes from March 1-15 (limit of 900 minutes)
- Submit reading logs (if using the paper version) by Tuesday, March 17th
Let’s build strong reading habits and show our Mustang spirit — happy reading! Please contact BMP.PTA@gmail.com with any questions. Do not contact the school as the Read-a-Thon is managed by the PTA.
FCPS is offering take-home meal kits through Thursday, March 19, 2026 to support students who are fasting during the school day.
Thanks to a program from the Virginia Department of Education, students can now take healthy school meal kits home at the end of the day. These kits are designed to be eaten later that day and include both breakfast and lunch.
Families must sign up by deadlines in order to take advantage of this opportunity. Visit https://www.fcps.edu/meal-kits-fasting-students for more information.
Conversations continue around proposed changes for placements of the Advanced Academic Program (AAP) centers for full-time services. Bren Mar Park students who qualify for full-time services may stay at Bren Mar Park as part of our local level program or attend a center school, which is currently Belvedere Elementary School in Region 2.
A public hearing is scheduled for March 19 and the final Board vote is scheduled for March 26. Any changes would apply to rising grade 3 students.
