Frost MS Coffee Talk

☕ Join Us for Frost MS Coffee Talk!

Looking for a chance to connect with the school community and stay in the loop? We’d love to see you at our monthly Coffee Talk!

It’s a great way to start your morning with some caffeine and conversation. We meet on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.

  • 7:15 AM – 7:30 AM: Mix and mingle with other parents and staff.

  • 7:30 AM – 8:15 AM: Hear updates and insights from Mr. Harris and friends!

Our next Coffee Talk will be March 18

This month's Coffee Talk will feature Krystle Trammell, FCPS Family Partnership Specialist. Krystle will provide families strategies for effective advocacy, addressing the unique needs of both general and special education students. The discussion will cover essential strategies for navigating academic challenges and social-emotional well-being.

February Coffee Talk Presentation

This presentation provides an essential guide for families to navigate the various technology tools used within Fairfax County Public Schools, including SIS ParentVUE, Schoology, TalkingPoints, & Lightspeed. It offers step-by-step instructions on how to access student grades, report absences, and monitor digital activity. Reach out to Jenny Collins, SBTS, at jacollins@fcps.edu, should you have any questions.

Month of the Military Child graphic

April is Month of the Military Child

Frost is honored to have 125 military connected students – that’s about 10% of our school! We will celebrate our students throughout April – to include a spirit week April 13-17, with Wednesday, April 15th being the FCPS Purple-Up for military kids day. Frost school counselor, Larkin Gibas, will be sending information directly to our Military connected families. Please contact Ms. Gibas (LRGibas@fcps.edu) by March 20 if you do not receive it, so we can ensure we have your student included in our upcoming celebrations. FCPS includes retiree status in our correspondence, but students are free to opt out of any of our activities if they wish. For more information and/or to connect with FCPS resources, email us at militaryfamilies@fcps.edu

22nd Annual Techstravaganza

Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 10 AM to 4 PM

TJHSST

Techstravaganza is a free, public, hands-on STEM activity fair for elementary and middle school students in Northern Virginia. In previous years, we've hosted more than 4,500 students and 70 labs presenting STEM activities. Our exhibitors range from TJHSST clubs and our own TWIST volunteers to organizations like NASA SCaN, Art of Problem Solving, George Mason University, American Society of Naval Engineers, and the National Air and Space Museum.

Admission is free – register here! More information about the event can be found on our website at https://techstrav.org/index.html

Meditation Space

This year, Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, falls from the evening, February 18 through March 19.  We would like to know how many Frost students will need accommodation and access to meditation and prayer space during this time.  As always, students whose religious beliefs require them to pray at a specific time that coincides with instructional time can be accommodated with parental permission submitted to the school principal.

Please complete this survey if you give your student permission to pray during the school day.

In alignment with FCPS regulations and expectations, Frost MS ensures that students and staff of all religious backgrounds have reasonable accommodation and access to meditation and silent reflection spaces within the school building.

Red Bag Flyer

🍎 Help Fill Our School’s Food Pantry!

The next Red Bag Event April 25th!

Have you noticed those red bags around the neighborhood? We are partnering with Food For Neighbors to collect weekend food for middle and high school students in Northern Virginia who struggle with hunger.

  • How it Works: Five times a year, donors fill a "Red Bag" with food from a specific list. Drivers pick them up, and volunteers help sort and deliver the food directly to local schools.

  • Get Involved: You can make a big difference by requesting your own Red Bag, making a donation, or volunteering your time.

Join the movement: www.foodforneighbors.org.

Resources for Families of Students with Disabilities

SEPTA, the Fairfax County Special Education Parent Teacher Association, was created to empower and connect families, students, and educators to ensure students with disabilities develop their full potential as individuals and community members. Learn more or become a member on the SEPTA website

The Advisory Committee for Students with Disabilities (ACSD) is a state mandated Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC). Parents/guardians, students, teachers, administrators, staff, and others interested in special education at FCPS are welcome and encouraged to share their thoughts, ideas, and/or public comment related to the unmet needs of students with disabilities.

FCPS’ Office of Special Education Procedural Support provides guidance to staff, families, and students in areas related to the implementation of and compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, as amended.

Families of students in special education programs can find more resources in the Special Education Handbook for Parents. (Translations are available from the Parent Resource Center (PRC).)

The PRC offers free webinars, consultations, a lending library, and resources to help adults support the success of all students, including those with learning challenges, special needs, and disabilities. Their YouTube channel includes videos of workshops and webinars for families and educators to support student success.
