This past Friday, staff from Coates Elementary School faced off against Deer Park Elementary School in our annual staff basketball game! After falling short last year, Team Coates came back strong and squeaked out a win with a score of 43–20.
We appreciate Deer Park’s great sportsmanship and the fun this event brings to both of our communities. It was wonderful to see so many Stars and Bucks cheering in the stands!
Our 6th graders also gave it their all in a scrimmage against Deer Park’s 6th graders. While Deer Park took the win this time, we’re proud of the effort and teamwork from both teams.
Congratulations to everyone who played, and we can’t wait for the rematch next year! ⭐🏀

Every year, March is designated Women’s History Month by presidential proclamation. The month is set aside to honor women’s contributions in American history.Learn more about the heritage months, celebrations, and traditions celebrated in FCPS. Read more about Women’s History Month in National Geographic Kids.
Sunday, March 8, at 2 a.m., daylight saving time begins. Don’t forget to move your clocks ahead one hour! As a result of the time change, many students will be walking to school or to bus stops in the dark. Help your child stay safe by having them wear reflective clothing and bright or light colors, or add reflective items to their backpacks or clothes. Also, encourage your child to be especially alert for cars that are turning or backing up and not to run into the street or cross between parked cars.
