Our Primary All-Stars hit the court with energy and school spirit! Thank you to our staff and families for an unforgettable, fun-filled game.
Hi Bailey’s Primary Families,
We hope you enjoyed the weekend and remembered to spring your clocks forward for the start of Daylight Saving Time. We are looking forward to a little extra sunlight this evening!
Thank you to everyone who came out to the Bailey’s Basketball Game on Friday night. This annual event is always a lot of fun, and we appreciate our PTA for organizing such a great evening for our community.
Last week during our staff meeting, we also had the opportunity to recognize three of our teachers who were recipients of the FCPS CARES Award for Region 2—Catherine Giacomo, Noel Naylor, and Melissa Snyder. They were recognized for leading a community service project with the first grade team called Kids Helping Kids Soup Kits.
Bailey’s is such a special community, and we are grateful for the dedicated teachers, staff, families, and students who work together to make our school such a great place.
Let’s make it a great week to be a Bailey’s Tiger!
🧡Satonya Dews, Principal
💙Tracey Brown Rice, Assistant Principal
🧡Keith Downing, Assistant Principal

Ms. Snyder, Ms. Giacomo, and Ms. Naylor were honored with the CARES Award for their 1st Grade Project, where students created soup kits to support families in our community. Thank you for teaching the importance of giving back and showing our students the power of helping others!

All first and second grade students will have the opportunity to take their school-issued laptops home each afternoon and return them to school each morning. Taking laptops home is optional, but we encourage families to consider this opportunity to support continued learning and help students build responsibility in caring for their devices.
All families are asked to complete the Google form to indicate whether they would like their child to take a laptop home or to opt out at this time. A member of our Technology Team will follow up with you via Talking Points to confirm your selection and share any next steps.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our School-Based Technology Specialist, Nicole Sandrowicz.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership!

March is Music in our Schools Month!
For more than 40 years, March has been designated by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) as Music In Our Schools Month® (MIOSM®). The positive impact of music education in the lives of students lasts a lifetime. Therefore, ensuring equitable access to music education for the youngest members of our society—students—is paramount.
Every day, in classrooms and rehearsal rooms across FCPS, music educators dedicate themselves to reaching all students with life-changing musical experiences. Parents, administrators, and the wider community often only see the wonderful results of music performances; however, we miss the months of practice and rehearsals and more importantly the learning process that takes place to make it all happen.
We encourage members in our community to acknowledge and celebrate music education as an essential part of every student’s educational journey. We love teaching music here at Bailey’s and look forward to creating more beautiful music together this month and always!
Please feel free to send a message to your music teachers and share a music moment from your child, and/or tell us why music is important in your life too!
Your Bailey’s Music Teachers: Ms. Amy Spiess-Ki and Mrs. Kristin Stubblefield

The spirit of heritage and the promise of the future filled the air at Carter G. Woodson High School as FCPS held its second annual Black History Month Celebration with the theme, Rooted in Resilience: Echoes of Excellence. This year’s event was especially significant as it coincided with the 100th anniversary of the movement that became Black History Month.
Students from across the division took center stage as the true "echoes" of this excellence. The program featured student-led Moments of Pride that connected local and national history to contemporary achievements. A spirited keynote speech was delivered by Vernon Walton, senior pastor at the First Baptist Church of Vienna. Another highlight of the night was the FCPS Black Excellence video tribute.
Read more about the Black history event.

The National Sleep Foundation’s Sleep Awareness Week is March 8 to 14. The observance highlights the critical link between sleep and health, both physical and mental. Read more about sleep health and sleep strategies you can try at home.

Fairfax County Health Department Measles Update
Measles is a highly contagious virus that infects 9 out of 10 people who are exposed, if unvaccinated or not immune. It has been in the news lately due to cases in Northern Virginia and among people who have traveled through local airports.
If your spring break or summer plans include traveling abroad or to an area in the United States with high measles activity, the Fairfax County Health Department encourages you to ensure your family is protected. Children 12 months and older should have 1 or 2 doses before traveling. Depending on your specific travel plans, your health care provider may also advise you to vaccinate infants 6 to 11 months old. Read more about these recommendations.
FCPS’ 2026 Special Education Family Conference has been rescheduled to Saturday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Marshall High School.
