Dear Haycock Families,

It was great to see many parents this past week join their students for their PE class during the Kids Heart Challenge!  There was a lot of dusting off rusty jump rope skills.  This morning, it was wonderful to see so many of our 5th grade parents for the Poetry Slam.  We appreciate the many ways that all of you support and celebrate your child's growth.

Please download the new Raptor Safe App which can make check-in’s even faster at school. Visitors who download the Raptor Safe App and create a Raptor Passport can pre-verify their information before they get to school. The app will give you a QR code you can use when you check-in at the front office.

We hope to see many of you next Saturday, March 7 at Meridian HS at 6:00 p.m. for the Teachers vs. the Harlem Wizards basketball game.  This is a fundraiser for the Haycock PTA and promises to be lots of fun. Tickets can be purchased through the PTA.

Additionally, the McLean pyramid is gathering at Franklin Sherman Elementary for a screening of Screenagers and an explanation of the Wait until 8th program on Monday, March 9 at 7:00 p.m. Here is the link to RSVP. We hope to see you there.

Finally, congratulations to the Haycock Science Olympiad Division B team! They won first place in the regional competition and will be moving on to the state tournament.

With appreciation for your partnership,

Liz Beaty, Principal embeaty@fcps.edu

🍳Celebrating the Power of School Breakfast

Multiple studies show that school breakfasts are important in supporting overall student health by improving students’ diets and combating food insecurity. Students who eat school breakfast consume more fruit and fiber than their peers.

This National School Breakfast Week, FCPS Food and Nutrition Services reminds families that they are dedicated to providing flavorful, healthy, sustainable, and student-focused meals. New menu items have been launched this year based on student feedback.

Would you like to know what’s for breakfast? Nutrition Services has printable menus available.
