â Anchors Aweigh for an Incredible Week!
It has been an absolutely stellar week for our school community! From the streets of D.C. to the high-stakes stage of the spelling bee, our students are shining brighter than ever. Here is a quick look at what weâve been up to:
đľď¸ââď¸ Mission Accomplished: 4th Grade Takes on the Spy Museum!
Our 4th graders officially went "undercover" this week for a field trip to the International Spy Museum. It was a fantastic day of code-breaking, logic puzzles, and learning about the history of intelligence. Our young recruits represented the Navy community with curiosity and sharp mindsâmission definitely accomplished!
đ¤ Strengthening Our Sails: Principalâs Advisory Committee
A huge thank you to the parents who joined us for our latest Principalâs Advisory Committee meeting. Your voices are the wind in our sails! We had some truly wonderful discussions regarding our current programs and future practices. We thrive when we have your input, and we are so grateful for a community that is so deeply invested in our students' success.
đ The Buzz on Campus: Our Spelling Bee Champions!
The energy in the room was electric during our annual Spelling Bee! We are so proud of every student who stepped up to the microphone. It takes a massive amount of courage and hard work to master those tricky words, and the sportsmanship displayed by all our contestants was the real highlight of the day. Congratulations to our winners and to everyone who participated!
Thank you for making this community such a vibrant, supportive place for our kids to grow and learn. We couldn't do it without you!
Sincerely
Jason, Kim, and Sarah

Our next next 3 hour early release is Wednesday, March 25.
We kindly ask families to arrange any transportation changes ahead of the early release day whenever possible. For example, if multiple students will be picked up together in Kiss and Ride, written permission from each family is required. When these arrangements are made on the day of early dismissal, it creates significant pressure for our wonderful front office staff as they work to ensure every student gets home safely. Planning ahead helps our dismissal process run smoothly and keeps students safe.
- A reminder that we will dismiss based on your dismissal plan you shared for the school year.
-
You can check in our Early Release Checker: https://bit.ly/NavyERChecker
- If changes to the dismissal plan need to be made, please call the office (703) 262-7100. Changes cannot be made past 3/23 without admin approval.Â
Thank you for your partnership in planning and safely dismissing all of our students!

Please take a moment to complete the anonymous survey so we can determine if there is enough interest to move forward with scheduling this event. Thank you for your support!

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is the foundation of how our students understand their emotions, build strong relationships, and make responsible choices. Next week, we invite you practice and discuss these skills at home with daily conversations and activities.
MONDAY: SELF-AWARENESS-Â Encourage Self-Awareness at home by having a conversation with your student about their strengths. Consider sharing some of current strengths and some from when you were a student!
TUESDAY: SELF-MANAGEMENT- Encourage Self-Management at home by talking about a goal you set for yourself and how you achieved it.
Model self-management through your words. EX. âI am feeling a little frustrated so I am going to stop and take a few deep breaths.â
WEDNESDAY: SOCIAL AWARENESS- Encourage Social Awareness at home by talking about empathy. With your child, share a time that someone considered your thoughts and feelings or how you showed empathy for someone.
THURSDAY: RELATIONSHIP SKILLS- Show your student positive Relationship Skills at home by helping someone in need, checking in with someone to let them know you care, or talking about you handled a conflict or disagreement.
FRIDAY: DECISION MAKING- Encourage Decision Making at home by talking about ways you have solved a problem. Have your student share a problem they are dealing with and help them think about next steps.
Our SOL testing season is approaching, and we want to help families plan ahead. Please take note of the following SOL dates and help your child be prepared by arriving on time and avoiding appointments or vacations on these days.Thank you for supporting your child during testing season.Â

This National School Breakfast Week, FCPS Food and Nutrition Services reminds families that they are dedicated to providing flavorful, healthy, sustainable, and student-focused meals. New menu items have been launched this year based on student feedback.Â
