April is Month of the Military Child
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is gearing up to honor and celebrate its military-connected youth in April, the Month of the Military Child, and on Purple Up! Day!
This year, Virginia will celebrate Purple Up! Day on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Purple Up! Day is a special day for communities to come together and wear purple as a visible gesture of support for our military-connected youth and their families. Purple symbolizes the combined colors of all branches of the military.
FCPS Purple Up! T-shirts and other items are available for purchase now through Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in our Custom Ink online store. These items highlight our gratitude and appreciation for our 14,500 military-connected students and their families. #PurpleUpFCPS!
For more information and/or to connect with FCPS resources, email us at militaryfamilies@fcps.edu.
Woodson Fanquest!
Friday, March 13
FanQuest is a time for students on our Unified team to shine on center court with tons of fans in the stands, cheering them on, and admiring their athleticism. The event will consist of a tailgate in the auxiliary gym, and halls surrounding our gymnasium, a game against another school’s Unified basketball team, entertainment during the game, and an awards ceremony at the end. The tailgate is a great community-oriented event with a moon bounce, tailgate activities hosted by our school clubs, concessions, merchandise, and more! The night will consist of a Unified game of Special Olympic athletes and their same-aged peers playing alongside of one another. During the game, there will be breaks for "TV time-outs", such as performances, crowd interaction, games, and fun chances to win prizes.
Special Olympics is still gaining momentum in high schools across America and is not recognized as an official school sport. Additionally, these sports are not funded by our school system, nor do we have boosters’ representatives the same way as other Varsity Sports do. Because of this, we, as coaches and teachers, are solely responsible to find the funds to run this tournament.

Upcoming Student Experience Survey at Frost MS |
Our school will participate in the FCPS Student Experience Survey. This survey will gather important feedback from students about their school experiences to help FCPS make meaningful improvements.
All students in grades 6-12, except those who have opted out, will receive a link to the survey in their FCPS email on February 23. We will administer the survey during the school day between Monday, February 23, and Friday, March 6. Any student may take the survey at home, if they are unable to take the survey during the school day.
We believe it's important to hear from our students about what we're doing well and where we can improve. This work also aligns with the equity commitments in FCPS’ 2023-30 Strategic Plan, which include a focus on amplifying student voice and experiences as we work toward meeting plan goals.

Meditation Space
This year, Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, falls from the evening, February 18 through March 19. We would like to know how many Frost students will need accommodation and access to meditation and prayer space during this time. As always, students whose religious beliefs require them to pray at a specific time that coincides with instructional time can be accommodated with parental permission submitted to the school principal.
Please complete this survey if you give your student permission to pray during the school day.
In alignment with FCPS regulations and expectations, Frost MS ensures that students and staff of all religious backgrounds have reasonable accommodation and access to meditation and silent reflection spaces within the school building.
