OES Camp Readalot

OES Camp Read-A-Lot

On Monday, March 2, in celebration of Read Across America, all OES students will participate in a school-wide Camp Read-A-Lot.

Students, dress in your comfy camping clothes for a reading adventure!  Hiking boots are not required.

We will have a special time set aside to dig into our favorite books!

Happy Reading 😊

Raptor Visitor Management System

Main Office Request

After using the new Raptor Visitor Management System (VMS) for a week, we have found that visitors who have downloaded the RaptorSafe App and created a Raptor Passport have much quicker and easier time checking in. The app will give you a QR code to scan.  Without this QR code, visitors have to scan the front and back of their drivers license and have a picture taken each time you arrive.

National School Social Work Week

March 2-8 is National School Social Work Week. Social workers in FCPS help to prevent social, emotional, and behavioral factors from affecting a student's ability to perform at their best. Their primary goal is to remove barriers that prevent a student from fulfilling their academic potential. Social workers are assigned to every school and center in the school system. Most social workers serve one to two sites. Learn more about the role of social workers in FCPS.

Community Conversations: Share Your Thoughts With Dr. Reid

Child care and interpretation services will be provided. Events are open to all. Visit the superintendent’s engagement page for the most up-to-date information.

FCPS Cares Logo

Please consider recognizing an OES staff member!

A quick way to recognize an employee or team? Share an FCPS CARES! Families, colleagues, and students are all invited to submit. The FCPS CARES is automatically sent to the recipient(s) and their supervisor, and is posted on fcps.edu. Additionally, each month one school in our region wins a staff celebration from HR. Encourage your community to show our staff that their hard work is appreciated!

lego league

Join the Award-Winning OES FLL Robotics Team

The award-winning Oakton Elementary School First Lego League (FLL) team is looking for new members. FLL gives students hands-on experience in STEM and robotics. Students work together on a team to build and code their own robot for a competition.

The team is looking for rising 4th, 5th, and 6th graders to apply. While the main season runs from September to December, the club is hosting off-season meetings this spring. These meetings are open to possible new members for fun STEM activities.

Please note that FLL regulations only allow a limited number of students per team. Attending spring meetings does not guarantee a spot for the fall season. If your child is interested in STEM, please fill out the interest form by March 1.

Off-Season Meeting Details:

Dates: March 4, March 11, March 18, April 8, April 15, and April 22

Time: 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
