🏀GBE Presents: March Mathness

Starting this week and running through March 27th, students in all homerooms will go head-to-head against other classes in an ST Math puzzle competition. Each student will complete as many puzzles as possible between Monday and Sunday to contribute to their class’s puzzle count. The class with the most points will move on to the next round of the competition, and more puzzles will be completed the next week. Students can complete ST Math puzzles both at school and at home. MVPs will be celebrated each week for those who complete the most puzzles! Our tournament champions will be crowned the week of March 27, 2026. Good luck to all the classes!
💡Spotlight on Specials: Music with Mr. Covington & Ms. Bertha

Musicians in the lower grades have been learning how music can be used for storytelling, focusing on Carnival of the Animals (Camille Saint-Saens) and Peter and the Wolf (Sergei Prokofiev). We have also been working on identifying instruments in the string, woodwind, brass, and percussion families by sight and sound.
Our upper grade musicians have continued to hone their skills on different classroom music instruments. We have started to discuss composers and songwriters and have explored the different skillsets required to produce the songs that we listen to daily (musical literacy, writing lyrics, improvisation, audio engineering, etc). Special shout out to the 5th graders who have also been working through a science of sound unit with Mr. Covington. They have been asking questions in search of better understanding of the material and how it pertains to music, the world, and beyond.
We also have several students who are performing with the Chantilly Area Chorus on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chantilly HS auditorium.

Register Today With Volunteer FCPS

- Create a profile in Volunteer FCPS.
- Register for opportunities through Volunteer FCPS.
- Sign in and out of schools using the visitor kiosk.
At the Volunteer FCPS site, you can complete a volunteer orientation. Visit the Volunteer FCPS Frequently Asked Questions for more information.
New Visitor Management System
We are excited to announce that our school is now using the new Raptor Visitor Management System (VMS). This upgrade is part of our school’s and FCPS’ ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety and streamlining the process for visitors at our school. The VMS ensures that no visitor is on the sex offender registry.
For most visitors, the user experience will be the same when you check-in at the front office.
But now there is also an app, which can make check-in’s even faster at school. Visitors who choose to download the RaptorSafe App and create a Raptor Passport can pre-verify their information before they get to school. The app will give you a QR code you can use when you check-in at school.
If you have questions or need assistance with the new system, please contact our front office. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our schools safe!
