Reminder: Sign Up for Musical Auditions

Hello all Future Fairy Tale Creatures! The PTA musical committee wanted to remind all those students/families interested in auditioning this week for Shrek, Jr. to complete this Google form ASAP as we need to have a record of each student who attends for FCPS rules/regulations AND so our Directors know who to expect each day of auditions.

A few reminders and notes:

  • Your student should be prepared to sing a song if they choose- this can be any song (Happy Birthday, Jingle Bells or another song they love and know-there will be no music accompaniment so they should be ready to sing a cappella. 
  • There is no requirement to dance but your student can prepare a short dance sequence if they wish or sing and dance together!
  • Students may also audition together with a buddy- please inform the directors upon arrival
  • Depending on time, students may be asked to read lines from the show along with other students. This may happen at call-backs as well
  • It will be parent/guardian responsibility to pick their student up on-time after the auditions at 5:30 outside the cafeteria in the hallway. There will be a sign out sheet that must be signed.
  • There will be parent volunteers present (not in the audition itself) and a teacher or two present as well to offer support and manage the process.
  • There will be three 7th grader girls that have performed in these shows in the past present as well to help/coach and practice!
  • Remember- auditioning does not guarantee a part in the show, the part you want may not be the part you get, getting a call back does not mean you are being cast and NOT getting a call back does not mean you will not be cast
  • Casting will be announced on February 28th at 8:00 PM. Please do not reach out to the team directly to inquire- they will be working hard to get the show cast so we can start rehearsals next week
  • If your student is cast, you will receive a permission form with instructions on payment due along with the student and family responsibilities. We are moving VERY fast this year and it will require a bit more work on all of us to make this a success!

Thank you all! Please be sure to sign up by tomorrow at noon! If you are still unsure, please let us know and we can address any questions. Auditions are open and inclusive and if your student decides they do not wish to participate after the fact, that is totally ok!
