Even though last week was short, we squeezed in a lot of learning! See some of our students that joined Dr. Reid in recognizing "tropical day" - too bad the weather didn't agree! Tomorrow is a snow day and schools & offices are closed. Please check the FCPS website for any additional school alerts.
Thank you to the families that came on Monday & Tuesday to help shovel our blacktop and playground so students could enjoy outdoor recess last week. We hope this snow melts more quickly! See the photo below of our creative indoor recess options offered by our kindergarten team. The students had a great time at their choice activities.
Our fourth graders enjoyed sharing their writing with family members last week and our Odyssey of the Mind teams rocked their competition yesterday - congratulations! Thank you again to so many of our parents that join our events and enhance our partnership.
Have a great week ~ Mrs. Castillo

Thank you to the PTA for funding this enrichment and for Mrs. Falkler for leading the initiative at Lemon Road. A huge thank you to all our coaches who stepped up to support each team - this is a big time commitment and we couldn't do it without you. Congratulations to all Lemon Road OM participants and thank you for representing our school! We are so proud of you! Three of our Division 1 teams placed. Here is a link to the results.

We are excited to announce that Lemon Road Elementary is now using the new RaptorSafe Visitor Management System (VMS). This upgrade is part of our school’s and FCPS’ ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety and streamlining the process for visitors at our school. The VMS ensures that no visitor is on the sex offender registry.
Please download the RaptorSafe App to your mobile phone so that you can quickly sign in (or preregister) as a visitor or volunteer at Lemon Road. For most visitors, the user experience will be the same when you check-in at the front office.
Registration Options:
-
Via the App: Search "Raptor Safe" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. You can also visit raptortech.com/raptorsafe-app/ for direct links.
-
In Person: If you are unable to register ahead of time, you can still complete the process at the school kiosk. Please ensure you have a valid photo ID with you to check in.

Marshall High School will be hosting its second annual STEM Night February 24th from 5-8 PM in its cafeteria! Participants include former Lemon Road students. Register here if your family can attend!
There will be many activities such as DNA pipe cleaner models, Alka-Seltzer lava lamps, science fair presentations, a visit from their robotics team, and many more!
Marshall has also officially launched their YouTube channel @GCMSTEMStars where they will be posting weekly videos about a range of STEM topics.
Each year, Tomorrow's Women in Science and Technology (TWIST), a student organization at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology promotes STEM through an annual flagship outreach event, Techstravaganza, and would like to invite your family to attend!
Techstravaganza is a free, public, hands-on STEM activity fair for elementary and middle school students in Northern Virginia. In previous years, they have hosted more than 4,500 students and 70 labs presenting STEM activities. The exhibitors range from TJHSST clubs and TWIST volunteers to organizations like NASA SCaN, Art of Problem Solving, George Mason University, American Society of Naval Engineers, and the National Air and Space Museum. This year, the event will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 10 AM to 4 PM at TJHSST.
Admission is free, but here is our registration link: https://tinyurl.com/Techstravaganza26. More information about the event can be found on our website at https://techstrav.org/index.html or tjpartnershipfund.org/techstravaganza/.
