KISS 'N RIDE: SAFETY REMINDERS

three boys smiling on red and black gradient with words "kiss n ride" in white letters

To ensure our arrival and dismissal move safely and efficiently, we would like to share a few important reminders regarding our Kiss & Ride procedures. Your cooperation helps us keep our students, staff, and safety patrols out of harm’s way.

Traffic Flow and Passing For the safety of everyone on campus, please do not pull out of line or pass other vehicles. Drivers must remain in a single-file line until the cars in front of them have moved forward. The only exception is if a staff member explicitly directs you to bypass a vehicle.

Key Safety Guidelines

    • Curbside Exit/Entry: For their protection, students must enter and exit the car on the passenger side only (the side closest to the sidewalk). Students should never step into the active drive lane.
    • Stay in Sequence: Please remain in your position in line until the flow of traffic allows you to exit the lane safely.
    • Follow Staff Signals: Our staff and safety patrols are there to help; please follow their hand signals and directions at all times.
    • Be Prepared: Having backpacks and lunches ready before you reach the drop-off point helps the line move smoothly for everyone.
  • Blacktop: If your child is on the blacktop at dismissal, please park in a parking spot.  Do not park your car in the Kiss & Ride lane.

Thank you for your patience and for helping us keep our school community safe!

SCHOOL VISITORS NEW APP

We are excited to announce that our school is now using the new Raptor Visitor Management System (VMS). This upgrade is part of our school’s and FCPS’ ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety and streamlining the process for visitors at our school. The VMS ensures that no visitor is on the sex offender registry.

For most visitors, the user experience will be the same when you check-in at the front office.

But now there is also an app, which can make check-in’s even faster at school. Visitors who choose to download the RaptorSafe App and create a Raptor Passport that will pre-verify their information before they get to school. The app will give you a QR code you can use when you check-in at school.

If you have questions or need assistance with the new system, please contact our front office. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our schools safe!

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!

Boy smiling on red and black gradient with words "attendance matters" in white letters

Attendance is Important

Attendance is about more than just a seat in a classroom; it’s a predictor of future success. Research shows that by middle school, absenteeism can actually predict high school graduation. Even missing school on snowy days when we’re open can impact those all-important test scores and grades.

To stay in line with Virginia state requirements, we monitor attendance closely. If your child hits 5 unexcused or 10 total absences, we will send a letter to set up a supportive phone conference.

Our goal is simple: to partner with you, identify any hurdles, and ensure your child is here to learn, grow, and thrive. Thank you for making school a priority!

MADISON PYRAMID: DAY OF SERVICE

Smiling boy on red and black gradient with words "pyramid day of service" in white letters

In the Madison Pyramid, we believe our schools and neighborhood are "Our Shared Home." To celebrate this, we are excited to share more about our Day of Service on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

This day moves learning beyond the classroom, helping students grow as Ethical and Global Citizens. Through hands-on service, students will learn that they have the power to strengthen their community through intentional, compassionate action. Each school will participate in unique ways tailored to their students' ages and interests.

We look forward to partnering with you to make this day a success. In our upcoming communications, we will share specific ways you can help, including a link to our Amazon Wish List for project supplies.

Thank you for helping our students grow into community-minded leaders.
