Forestville Mural Complete - Thank You Families!

Forestville thanks our amazing families for their contributions to the PTA Boosterthon campaign earlier this school year. Because of your generosity, Forestville PTA was able to contract with Capital Murals and we were thrilled to have a three-week project for students to watch come alive throughout the school day. We are excited to showcase it at our upcoming Kindergarten Orientation and all community activities. You can see it from outside the building and it is a bright and cheerful reminder that we are part of the best community where "It's a Great Day to be a Cardinal!"

Forestville First Graders at Work!

Forestville first grade students were recently spotted hard at work as they spent time on phonics activities. These students were so engrossed, they had no idea they were starring in this picture! We love the variety of engaging activities our teachers plan for students and know that we are lucky enough to observe this level of engagement in every classroom throughout our Forestville community.

💻Standards of Learning Assessments

Forestville Coat Drive Ends Friday

Forestville students and families are invited to donate gently used coats to our coat drive through this Friday, February 6. We are fortunate to be part of such a generous community and as we may have finally turned the corner to Spring, we welcome any donations of coats that may not be the right size next winter. All sizes of coats are welcome and all donations will go to support Women Giving Back, a local organization supporting women and children in crisis. Thank you in advance for your consideration and participation in this collection!

100 DAYS BRIGHTER AND FULL OF LOVE!
Our kindergarten students had double the fun last week as we celebrated the 100th day of school and Valentine's Day all at once! It was a joy to see our students dressed up like they were 100 years old while sharing cards and kindness with their friends. From building giant cup towers to working together on heartfelt crafts, our classrooms were filled with creativity and school spirit.

Forestville Students Shine at Odyssey of the Mind

Our Forestville Cardinals brought their most creative ideas to life at the Regional Odyssey of the Mind tournament.

Whether they were building elaborate sets or practicing spontaneous riddles, our students proved that exceptional academics and creative thinking go hand-in-hand.

Forestville was represented by three outstanding teams:

  • Our Primary Team (K-2) showed incredible teamwork as the "Golden Tribes."

  • Our 5th Grade Team displayed fantastic creativity and stage presence.

  • Our 4th Grade Team won 1st Place and is heading to the State Championship on March 14!

We are so proud of these students for taking personal responsibility for their projects and growing as communicators.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteer coaches and families. You ensure our teachers and students have the support needed to do an outstanding job.

Congratulations to all our competitors, and good luck at State!

Community Conversations: Share Your Thoughts With Dr. Reid

As a listening leader, connecting with community members across our school division is critical to Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid. Dr. Reid’s Community Conversations are opportunities for you to share your thoughts and ask questions. Events will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) on:

Child care and interpretation services will be provided. Events are open to all. Visit the superintendent’s engagement page for the most up-to-date information.

Celebrating the Power of School Breakfast

Multiple studies show that school breakfasts are important in supporting overall student health by improving students’ diets and combating food insecurity. Students who eat school breakfast consume more fruit and fiber than their peers.

This National School Breakfast Week, FCPS Food and Nutrition Services reminds families that they are dedicated to providing flavorful, healthy, sustainable, and student-focused meals. New menu items have been launched this year based on student feedback.

Would you like to know what’s for breakfast? Nutrition Services has printable menus available.

Pre-K and Early Head Start Programs

FCPS Pre-K and Early Head Start programs provide a high-quality early learning experience for qualifying children with economic and educational risk factors, ages 6 weeks to 4 years, living in Fairfax County.

  • Pre-K prioritizes 4-year-old applicants but also accepts applications for children who will be 3 years old by September 30 of the same year.
  • Early Head Start is located at three elementary schools — Clearview, Crestwood, and Dogwood — and accepts applications from pregnancy to 2 years old.

Families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible; space is limited and provided based on need, not on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applications are accepted online, by email, by mail, or in person at the program office at 7423 Camp Alger Avenue, Falls Church, Virginia 22042.

If you have a question about the application process or status, please call 703-208-7900 (English) or 703-208-7901 (Spanish).
