Lunar New Year at Haycock

We celebrated Lunar New Year in many ways this past week.  Thank you to the many parents who came into school to share more about this holiday with our students.

Dear Haycock Families,

It's hard to believe that we're beginning the last week of February! We'll look forward to seeing our students again tomorrow morning.

We have a new security management system in the front office. Download the Raptor Safe app on your phone. In the app, create your profile which includes scanning your driver's license. This will make checking in at the front office much quicker and easier.  Please see additional details below.  This is a system that is being installed across all FCPS schools.

This week is Kids Heart Challenge Week. Parents are invited to join their child(ren) for one of their PE classes this week! We deeply appreciate the generosity of the Haycock community.  Haycock raised $15,392.24 for the American Heart Association. Because of this, the PE department earned $1,300.00 towards new equipment to support our Physical Education program. Thank you to Ms. Hecht, one of our PE teachers, for organizing all things regarding Kids Heart Challenge Week for our students.

If you have a neighbor with a rising Kindergarten student for the 2026-27 school year, please encourage them to register their child as soon as possible.  Having an accurate number of our rising Kindergarten students impacts our staffing for next school year!

With appreciation for your partnership,

Liz Beaty, Principal embeaty@fcps.edu

Heather Boyd, AP   HABoyd@fcps.edu

Krystal Styles, AP   krstyles@fcps.edu

☑️NEW Visitor Management System

We are excited to announce that our school is now using the new Raptor Visitor Management System (VMS). This upgrade is part of our school’s and FCPS’ ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety and streamlining the process for visitors at our school. The VMS ensures that no visitor is on the sex offender registry.

For most visitors, the user experience will be the same when you check-in at the front office.

But now there is also an app, which can make check-in’s even faster at school. Visitors who choose to download the RaptorSafe App and create a Raptor Passport can pre-verify their information before they get to school. The app will give you a QR code you can use when you check-in at school.

If you have questions or need assistance with the new system, please contact our front office. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our schools safe!
