Roadrunner Rundown

February 18, 2026

Principal's Message

Madison Pyramid Our Shared Home Logo

Dear Marshall Road Families,

In the Madison Pyramid, we believe our schools and neighborhood are "Our Shared Home." To celebrate this, we are excited to share more about our Day of Service on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

This day moves learning beyond the classroom, helping students grow as Ethical and Global Citizens. Through hands-on service, students will learn that they have the power to strengthen their community through intentional, compassionate action. Each school will participate in unique ways tailored to their students' ages and interests.

We look forward to partnering with you to make this day a success. In our next communication, we will share specific ways you can help, including a link to our Amazon Wish List for project supplies.

Have a great week.

Matthew Chapman, Toni Nauflett, and Kelly Willis

Social and Emotional Learning Screening

FCPS is committed to supporting all students’ mental wellness and social and emotional learning. FCPS approved a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener that students use to share their perspectives on how well their school and community help them develop skills they need to succeed. These skills include achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships with adults and peers, and making responsible decisions. Students also share how successful their school and community are at making them feel valued, included, and supported. These factors are critical to positive academic, social, and emotional success. All students in grades 3-12 have the opportunity to participate in the screener twice a year, in the fall and spring.

Marshall Road has scheduled the administration of the Spring SEL Screener for the week of March 9-13th.

Opt-outs forms have been pushed out through The Parent Digital Consent System.

STEAM Night Logo

Come for the fun, stay for the science! Thursday, February 26 is our annual STEAM Night! Bring the whole family to experience exciting hands-on activities with real-world STEAM experts.

IMPORTANT: You DO NOT need to create a tri-fold project to attend! While we love seeing student projects, the event is open to everyone to come explore, learn, and play.

WE NEED HELP! We still need volunteers to help run activity stations and keep the night running smoothly. Visit our STEAM Night Sign Up page to volunteer.

Our favorite bookstore returns! This is a magical time for our students, but we can't do it without parent volunteers to help shoppers and run the registers.

MRES Read-A-Thon (March 2–13)

Get those bookmarks ready! Our first annual Read-A-Thon kicks off on Monday, March 2nd.

How it works:

  • Read & Track: Students choose what they want to read and track their minutes.
  • Win Prizes: Every 60 minutes of reading earns a student an entry into a raffle for fun prizes!
  • Raise Funds: Parents will receive an email link from 99Pledges.com to a private donation page. You can share this link with friends and family to sponsor your reader via text, email, or social media.

Start stacking up those books!

MRES Staff Spotlight

Photo of Alex Belden

Hooray for Ms. Belden, one of our fabulous sixth grade teachers. Ms. Belden has been at MRES for three years and has been teaching for seven years.

When asked what she loves about MRES, Ms. Belden said, “I love Marshall Road because it feels like a family. People genuinely care and there is always someone I can reach out to for help. The kindness shown is the best I have ever seen.”

In her spare time, Ms. Belden loves diamond painting and baking/creating things like bread and using her Ninja Creami for ice cream. Lately she has been mixing up a lot of yogurt! She says it relaxes her brain and the yogurt tastes good! Ms. Belden also loves all things football. (Go Ravens!)

Fun fact: Ms. Belden carries a book everywhere she goes! She says, “There is always a spot to read!”
