SVES

Just when we think we’re in the clear from snow, another potential storm is on the horizon! We’ll have to see what today brings. For our snow lovers, this may offer one last chance to enjoy the winter weather.

As another short week wraps up, we look ahead to five (mostly) uninterrupted weeks before spring break. This consistency supports instructional momentum for both students and staff. With the midyear assessment window closed, our focus remains on strong, purposeful instruction in the second half of the year.

Next Wednesday, we will host our second Parent Series, “Anxiety: How to Support Your Child When Worry Shows Up,” at 6:30 p.m. in the SVES library. Dinner and childcare will be provided. Please RSVP so we can plan accordingly - we look forward to seeing you there (additional details below)!

☕ Sit back and enjoy this week's edition of SVTV's Weekly Report

Anxiety: How to Support Your Child When Worry Shows Up

We’re excited to host our second session featuring Ms. Laura Hayes. Worry and anxiety are a common part of childhood but knowing how to respond can make a big difference.

Join the Sunrise Valley Mental Health Team for an evening focused on understanding worry, how anxiety works in the brain, and practical ways parents can support children without unintentionally feeding worry and anxiety.

Families will leave with helpful tools and language that build confidence and resilience.

Please RSVP so we can plan accordingly.

Show What You Know - Support our students this week!

Thursday, February 26, 6:30-7:45 PM

We're excited for 100 students to demonstrate their knowledge and passion at this annual Sunrise Valley PTA-sponsored FREE community event!

Participants: Please bring your presentation boards to school (labeled on the back with your full name and grade) the morning of Thursday, February 26, where parent volunteers will collect them. Plan to arrive at Sunrise Valley at 6 PM to check in.

Parents: Please visit student boards as you're able throughout the evening. This is a great chance for our students to practice presentation and conversation skills!

All community members are invited to join us between 6:30 and 7:45 PM to view presentation boards and interact with student presenters.

Student Fasting Meal Kits

From February 18 to March 19, 2026, a Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) waiver allows students fasting during the school day to request take-home meal kits. These kits include a complete school breakfast and lunch to be eaten after the school day ends.

  • Kits are distributed at the end of the school day. Students must pick up their own kits; adults are not permitted to collect them.

Parents or guardians must submit a weekly request form via the FCPS FNS website by the deadlines:
