Our students are 100 reasons why we love Woodburn—because their curiosity, kindness, and determination inspire us every single day. 🌟
Dear Families,
As we move through the final stretch of winter assessments, we are pleased to share that WIDA ACCESS testing, and our winter division assessments are wrapping up. We appreciate the flexibility and partnership from families as we have adjusted schedules to support a calm and focused testing environment for students. Your support in ensuring students arrive well-rested and on time has made a meaningful difference.
For families observing Ramadan, we extend our warmest wishes for a peaceful and reflective month. We recognize that this is a sacred time for many in our community, and we are mindful of the additional commitment fasting requires. We are proud to support and celebrate the diversity of traditions that strengthen our Woodburn community.
As we transition into spring, we encourage families to continue prioritizing daily reading at home. Even 15–20 minutes of reading each evening significantly strengthens vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence. Asking your child to summarize what they read, describe a character’s actions, or explain something new they learned deepens understanding and builds strong thinking skills. Consistent reading practice remains one of the most powerful ways to support academic growth.
We are also continuing to emphasize kindness and positive citizenship at school. Small actions—inviting someone to join a game, using respectful language, listening attentively, or showing patience—create a school culture where every child feels valued and safe. We encourage you to talk with your child about how they are showing kindness and contributing positively to their classroom community.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership as we continue to learn and grow together.
Respectfully,
Ms. Iyer & Ms. Dauberman
This week many of our student met Rylynn, a Therapy Dog that visits many schools. Students and teachers loved having Rylann join during their specials blocks. We can't wait until she returns!

New Visitor Management System
We are excited to announce that our school is now using the new Raptor Visitor Management System (VMS). This upgrade is part of our school’s and FCPS’ ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety and streamlining the process for visitors at our school. The VMS ensures that no visitor is on the sex offender registry.
For most visitors, the user experience will be the same when you check-in at the front office.
But now there is also an app, which can make check-in’s even faster at school. Visitors who choose to download the RaptorSafe App and create a Raptor Passport can pre-verify their information before they get to school. The app will give you a QR code you can use when you check-in at school.
If you have questions or need assistance with the new system, please contact our front office. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our schools safe!
Thursday clubs are a highlight of our week! What a fun time to be creative and work on our problem solving skills.
