Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our joint PTA and Principal’s Coffee on Wednesday. Mr. Stewart, our school-based Technology Specialist, led a session on how we support students with technology at school and shared helpful strategies for supporting technology use at home. Presentation slides can be found here.
We are excited to host our second Family Partnership Series on March 4, please save the date! This session will focus on an important topic: Anxiety — “How to Support Your Child When Worry Shows Up.” Additional details are included below. We hope you can join us!
A reminder that Monday and Tuesday are no school days for students in observance of Presidents’ Day and a Teacher Workday, respectively. We look forward to seeing everyone back on Wednesday, which will be a 3-hour early release day. After this week, we move into a stretch of more consistent weeks ahead!
☕ Sit back and enjoy SVTV's weekly report.

Join Us for Our March Family Partnership Series Anxiety: How to Support Your Child When Worry Shows Up
We’re excited to host our second session featuring Ms. Laura Hayes. Worry and anxiety are a common part of childhood but knowing how to respond can make a big difference.
Join the Sunrise Valley Mental Health Team for an evening focused on understanding worry, how anxiety works in the brain, and practical ways parents can support children without unintentionally feeding worry and anxiety.
Families will leave with helpful tools and language that build confidence and resilience.
Mark your calendars—you won’t want to miss it!
Talk about community! A huge thank you to everyone who came out to help shovel our blacktop: Matt Oettinger, Sasha Hafner, Holly Reynolds, Vanessa Varma, Jennifer Glynn, Taylor Clarke, Hellen Rojas Miranda, and Aurelie Clermidy (I hope I didn’t miss anyone!).
Because of your support, we were able to reopen the blacktop for recess on Friday, and I think the teachers were just as excited as the students!
We are still looking for a few additional volunteers to help shovel the preschool playground area. If you’re available and willing to lend a hand, we would greatly appreciate it. Please come on up!

This week, we hosted a “Share the Love Week” for our staff. Throughout the week, staff members wrote notes of appreciation to one another, which were delivered to their mailboxes at the end of the week. It was incredibly special to see the outpouring of kind words and the many notes shared across our school community!
We also held a “Cookies & Cocoa” event as a special treat. A huge thank you to Vanessa Varma, Helga Geirsdottir and Anna Corte for helping to organize and lead this event! Staff were able to stop by, decorate a cookie, and enjoy hot cocoa with all the fixings, a perfect midweek pick-me-up.
Thursday, February 26 at 6:00 p.m. in the SVES gym and cafeteria.
It’s time to get ready for Sunrise Valley’s Show What You Know Expo 2026. SWYK will allow students to showcase their learning and knowledge in a particular subject area with other students and their parents.
Many thanks to the parents who've volunteered to collect boards, check students in, and clean up after. We still need a few more helpers setting boards up before the event (5-6 PM). Great service opportunity for teens. Sign up here to volunteer.
