Kings Park families,
All week long we will be celebrating Kindness Week with themed spirit days. This is a wonderful opportunity to remind our students that small, intentional acts of compassion are the foundation of a safe and supportive school culture. The week will end on an especially exciting note as we celebrate both the 100th day of school and Kindness Week’s Festive Friday - two fun opportunities to reflect on our progress and share appreciation for one another.
We'd like to give a special shout out to our second grade students for their creative demonstration of learning at today's Indigenous Peoples Museum. Their thoughtful projects and enthusiastic presentations showed both pride in their work and respect for the cultures they studied.
We are looking forward to a full week of kindness and learning!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Dotty Lin, Mrs. Jenn Burke and Mrs. Anna Kaplan

Rescheduled STEAM/Strategies Lab and Library Open House
Mark your calendars! The STEAM/Strategies Lab and Library Open Houses have been rescheduled for the week of April 27-May 1. We are looking forward to sharing these dynamic learning environments with our school community.
📚 Exploring Technology and Society in Language Arts 📚
Benchmark Unit 5 in Language Arts is about technology and how it can help us solve problems at home, school, and work. Students in K-5 will be learning about technology and society. Grade six students will learn about technology in the 21st century.
Connect with your child’s learning at school with these fun questions and hands-on activities at home:
- Question: If you could invent anything, what would it be?
- Activity: Talk to your child about what daily life was like before today’s advances in technology. Where would you go to find information? How did you stay in touch with friends and family? Ask your child if they think they would like living without modern technology.
At the end of the unit, your child will take their unit magazine home. The magazine includes an activity calendar with fun ways to help students build on what they’re learning at each grade level. You can also find information on how to support your child’s reading at home on the Benchmark Families website.
Meal Kits for Fasting Students
From February 18 to March 19, students who are fasting during the day can take school meals home. These kits include one breakfast and one lunch to be eaten after the school day ends.
Families must fill out a request form each week for every student who wants a kit. The first deadline is Wednesday, February 11, for the week of February 16. Please note other important details below:
-
Cost: Meals are charged just like a normal school day.
-
Pickup: Students must grab their kits at the end of the school day.
-
Menu: Kits include school meals that are easy to heat at home.
Visit the Food and Nutrition webpage for forms, deadlines, and other information. Please contact the Office of Food and Nutrition Services with any questions at FCPSFNS@fcps.edu or 703-813-4800.
