3-Hour Early Release
Next Wednesday, February 18th, is our next 3-hour Early Release. We will be following the SAME dismissal routine that students followed on December 10th. Ramadan
Ramadan this year is from sundown on February 17th to sundown on March 19th. If your student is observing Ramadan, please fill out this Ramadan Questionnaire , so we can coordinate on both on a prayer schedule and a lunch alternative for them.
Music in Our Schools Month
Does your student love to perform? Do they take music lessons outside of school and want to show off their skills?
March is Music in our Schools Month! This year, we are looking for student musicians to perform some songs in the lobby in the morning as students are coming to school. Each musician will get a day during March to perform a mini concert for their friends! If your student is interested, please fill out this Google Form

Woodson High School Mulch Sale
The annual Woodson Mulch Sale has arrived. Freshen up your flower beds and support the Woodson High School Leadership and Sports Leadership Classes at the same time. The Leadership Classes are once again offering high quality shredded hardwood mulch for purchase. Orders for 3-cubic foot bags of mulch must be received by Thursday, March 5, for pick-up at Woodson or delivery to your home on Sunday, March 15. When placing an order for 10 or more bags, delivery is an option. All mulch will be delivered on Sunday, March 15, beginning at 8:30 AM. The proceeds benefit the Woodson High School Leadership and Sports Leadership Classes and support their activities. Kindergarten Registration
🧸 Kindergarten Registration: It’s as Easy as 1-2-3…
There’s an easy five-step process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten:
- Determine eligibility.
- Identify your local school.
- Gather documents.
- Fill out forms.
- Schedule an appointment.
After the appointment at the school (the student and one caregiver must be present), the student will be ready for orientation or any other introductory events each school may host. Parents may register their children online for kindergarten through 12th grade. Learn how to begin the online registration process. When registering, parents will create (or log in to an existing) SIS ParentVUE account.
Warm Up FCPS- Divisionwide Spirit Day
Tired of all the cold weather? Let’s warm up with a little school spirit across the division!
Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid is encouraging all FCPS students, teachers, and staff to shake the wrinkles out of their brightest outfits and tropical wear to help brighten everyone’s moods on Thursday, February 19.
Meal Kits for Fasting Students
From February 18 to March 19, students who are fasting during the day can take school meals home. These kits include one breakfast and one lunch to be eaten after the school day ends.
Families must fill out a request form each week for every student who wants a kit. The first deadline is Wednesday, February 11, for the week of February 16. Please note other important details below:

Cost: Meals are charged just like a normal school day.

Pickup: Students must grab their kits at the end of the school day.

Menu: Kits include school meals that are easy to heat at home.

Black History Month Celebration
Rooted in Resilience: Echoes of Excellence
Families and community members are invited to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and uplift the voices shaping our future at FCPS’ Second Annual Black History Month Celebration. Rooted in Resilience: Echoes of Excellence will take place on Wednesday, February 25, at 6 p.m., at Carter G. Woodson High School.
The event will honor the rich history, strength, and contributions of the Black community through inspiring student performances and a powerful keynote address by Rev. Vernon C. Walton, pastor of First Baptist Church of Vienna. Light refreshments will be available.
