It takes a village. Thank you to our neighbors for helping shovel the sidewalk on Churchill Road so the students can walk to school.
Dear Churchill Road Families,
We are so happy to have all our students back in school on time after all of our weather-related delays and closures. Thank you to the Churchill neighbors and community members, as well as our custodial staff for helping ready the sidewalks and school grounds for our students’ return to school.
- This past Friday, Churchill Road families enjoyed the PTA’s annual favorite - Bingo Night.
- We are so proud of our students for raising more than $4500 to support Langley Pyramid’s Rise Against Hunger initiative. It also was great to see many of you this past Saturday at Colvin Run’s meal packaging event.
Looking ahead,
- This week is our Kindness Week Sprit Week. We can not wait to see our students’ interpretations of each day’s theme (see graphic below).
- Parent Input for the 26-27 School Year is open now through 4 PM February 25. See specific information below.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Pierson-Barr and Mr. Kilpatrick

Parent Input for the 2026-2027 School Year
As we begin planning for the upcoming school year, our staff collaborates regarding student placements. A variety of factors such as student personalities, friendships, and academic abilities are considered as we create our new classes. Other factors impacting the decision-making process of student class assignments are new student enrollments and teachers moving to a new assignment.
Churchill Road families may assist in this process by sharing insights. Please note the following when providing information. We do not accept requests for specific teachers for the upcoming grade placement. This includes hints that reference specific teachers. While all feedback is reviewed and considered, we cannot guarantee placement or non-placement with any other specific students. We do our best to create a positive learning year for your child.
Please provide your input by submitting this form as it will ensure we have your request. Please do not email us additional information. Completion of the form is optional: however, the deadline for any correspondence is Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 4 PM. Thank you for your input.
Meal Kits for Fasting Students
From February 18 to March 19, students who are fasting during the day can take school meals home. These kits include one breakfast and one lunch to be eaten after the school day ends.
Families must fill out a request form each week for every student who wants a kit. The first deadline is Wednesday, February 11, for the week of February 16. Please note other important details below:
-
Cost: Meals are charged just like a normal school day.
-
Pickup: Students must grab their kits at the end of the school day.
-
Menu: Kits include school meals that are easy to heat at home.
Visit the Food and Nutrition webpage for forms, deadlines, and other information. Please contact the Office of Food
Early Release Wednesday Reminder - February 18
Just a reminder that our next three-hour early release is scheduled for Wednesday, February 18 with a 12:20 p.m. dismissal. We will send all students home based on the dismissal information collected for our last early release in November. Please help us make sure your child's dismissal runs smoothly by verifying and/or updating the dismissal method, as necessary.
As a reminder, all students are expected to dismiss from school at the 12:20 p.m. time. An eNotify reminder will be sent out later this week.

Help Keep Churchill Road Phone-Free!
Please remind your student that cell phones and personal devices (AirPods, earbuds, headsets, other items connected to the internet) must be off and away for the entire school day (bell to bell). Cell phones are also not permitted to be used as an instructional tool.
FCPS’ cell phone policy helps students stay focused, safe, and engaged at school. Visit FCPS’ cell phone policy webpage for more information and answers to frequently asked questions, including consequences for cell phone policy violations and exceptions for students with medical conditions or IEP/504 plans.
If you need to contact your student during the school day, please call our front office.
📚 Exploring Technology and Society in Language Arts 📚
Benchmark Unit 5 in Language Arts is about technology and how it can help us solve problems at home, school, and work. Students in K-5 will be learning about technology and society. Grade six students will learn about technology in the 21st century.
Connect with your child’s learning at school with these fun questions and hands-on activities at home:
- Question: If you could invent anything, what would it be?
- Activity: Talk to your child about what daily life was like before today’s advances in technology. Where would you go to find information? How did you stay in touch with friends and family? Ask your child if they think they would like living without modern technology.
At the end of the unit, your child will take their unit magazine home. The magazine includes an activity calendar with fun ways to help students build on what they’re learning at each grade level. You can also find information on how to support your child’s reading at home on the Benchmark Families website.
