Message from Mr. Harris

Greetings Frost MS Families,

Our Falcons are Soaring! It has been an incredible, action-packed week here at Frost Middle School. As the weather finally begins to "defrost," our students and staff have been heating up with achievements, performances, and warm welcomes.

A Warm Welcome to Future Falcons

This week, we were thrilled to host our annual 6th-grade elementary school visits. Seeing so many smiling faces and eager future students walk through our halls over the last two days was a highlight for our staff. The excitement continued Thursday night at the Frost Family Festival, hosted by our wonderful Frost MS PTA. It was a joy to see families connecting and getting a head start on their journey into the Falcon community and learning more about the amazing opportunities Frost has to offer!

Winner, Winner!!

We are excited to share that our Frost MS Science Olympiad team took 1st Place in the regional competition! Our students will move on compete at the state level at the University of Virginia in March!

In addition, thirteen of our students have been recognized via the new countywide ARTiFAX awards program! Designed to honor artistic excellence, creative growth, and student voice, ARTiFAX highlights the depth and diversity of visual arts education across the school division. Frost students will have their work displayed at an art exhibition at Northern Virginia Community College’s Ernst Community Cultural Center until March 13, 2026.  Go Frost!!!!

Spelling Bee Brilliance

Our students showcased their linguistic talents at the annual Frost Spelling Bee. We are so proud of everyone who stepped up to the mic.

  • Good luck to our local winners as they move on to the next rounds!
  • A huge thank you to the faculty and staff who organized and supported this event.

Harmony in the Air

Our music department has been hitting all the right notes:

  • Woodson Area Chorus: Our choir "songbirds" did a fantastic job showing their skills during the recent area rehearsal this week.
  • District Chorus: The hard work continues this weekend! Good luck to our choir members performing at West Springfield HS for the District Chorus Event. Break a leg!

Championship Recognition

A massive shout-out to the Frost MS Girls’ Cross Country Team! Last night, the FCPS School Board officially recognized the team for winning their second consecutive championship. Their dedication and "grit" continue to set a high bar for our athletic programs. Great job, ladies!

As we head into the weekend, we want to wish our entire community a Happy Valentine's Day. Whether it’s appreciation for friends, family, or our hardworking teachers, we hope your weekend is filled with kindness and a little something sweet.

As always, “Work Hard. Be Nice. Widen Your Circle.” We are ONEFrost!

All the best!

Anthony Harris

Ramadan Mubarak to those in our community who observe! In Islam, Ramadan is the most sacred month of the year. During this month Muslims abstain from food and drink from dawn to sunset each day while striving to increase their spirituality, through prayers, charity, and good deeds. Muslims believe it was during this month that God revealed the first verses of the Holy Quran to Prophet Muhammad. #OurFCPS

Lunar New Year
  •  🐎 새해 복 많이 받으세요! 新年快乐! Chúc mừng Năm Mới! Wishing good fortune to those in our community who celebrate Lunar New Year! For those in many East and Southeast Asian countries, including Pacific Islanders, the Lunar New Year is one of the most important holidays of the year and is all about ushering in luck and prosperity with family. #OurFCPS

Wednesday, February 18, is Ash Wednesday and the first full day of Ramadan. FCPS has designated this day as a religious and cultural observance day. There is school on these days, however specific events that cannot be made up will not be held on these observance days. See the complete school year calendar.Throughout the year, as we celebrate and recognize various cultural holidays and observances, families are encouraged to contact their child’s principal regarding accommodations, including but not limited to those around lunch, prayer/meditation and silent reflection spaces and times, and instruction.

They also discussed supports available for students here at Frost and how families can support students at home when struggle occurs. Please see the attached presentation that includes helpful websites and resources for your review.

Student Experience Survery pictures of students

Upcoming Student Experience Survey at Frost MS

Our school will participate in the FCPS Student Experience Survey. This survey will gather important feedback from students about their school experiences to help FCPS make meaningful improvements.

All students in grades 6-12, except those who have opted out, will receive a link to the survey in their FCPS email on February 23. We will administer the survey during the school day between Monday, February 23, and Friday, March 6. Any student may take the survey at home, if they are unable to take the survey during the school day. You will receive a communication with details on how to preview the survey and opt your child out, if you choose.

We believe it's important to hear from our students about what we're doing well and where we can improve. This work also aligns with the equity commitments in FCPS’ 2023-30 Strategic Plan, which include a focus on amplifying student voice and experiences as we work toward meeting plan goals.

Meditation Space

This year, Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, falls from the evening, February 18 through March 19.  We would like to know how many Frost students will need accommodation and access to meditation and prayer space during this time.  As always, students whose religious beliefs require them to pray at a specific time that coincides with instructional time can be accommodated with parental permission submitted to the school principal.

Please complete this survey if you give your student permission to pray during the school day.

In alignment with FCPS regulations and expectations, Frost MS ensures that students and staff of all religious backgrounds have reasonable accommodation and access to meditation and silent reflection spaces within the school building.
