Next week, Pine Spring will celebrate Kindness Week, a special time to focus on spreading positivity, gratitude, and care across our school community. Each day will feature a fun theme encouraging students and staff to show kindness in big and small waysâthrough words, actions, and smiles.
From Workout Wear Monday to Western Wear Tuesday, Kindness Colors Wednesday, Superhero Thursday, and wrapping up with our 100th Day of School on Friday, itâs sure to be a joyful week full of school spirit and heart.
We invite families to join us in reinforcing the message that kindness mattersâevery day, to everyone. Letâs make it a week full of love, respect, and Bobcat pride! đŸđ
Please remind your student that cell phones and personal devices (AirPods, earbuds, headsets, other items connected to the internet) must be off and away for the entire school day (bell to bell). Cell phones are also not permitted to be used as an instructional tool.
FCPSâ cell phone policy helps students stay focused, safe, and engaged at school. Visit FCPSâ cell phone policy webpage for more information and answers to frequently asked questions, including consequences for cell phone policy violations and exceptions for students with medical conditions or IEP/504 plans.Â
If you need to contact your student during the school day, please call our front office at (571) 226-4400.Â
Families are invited to join us for Family Literacy Night, a fun and engaging evening for the entire Pine Spring community.
Students in grades Kâ5 will rotate through four interactive literacy stations designed to support reading skills and provide families with ideas to use at home.
For our 6th grade families, the evening will include a middle school information session focused on the transition to middle school and course selection. We are excited to welcome the DSS from Luther Jackson Middle School, who will be available to answer questions and share helpful information as families prepare for next year.
Pizza will be served at the beginning of the evening, and every student will receive a FREE book to take home. We look forward to a great night of learning and connection!
Tired of all the cold weather? Letâs warm up with a little school spirit across the division!Â
Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid is encouraging all FCPS students, teachers, and staff to shake the wrinkles out of their brightest outfits and tropical wear to help brighten everyoneâs moods on Thursday, February 19.
As we begin the third quarter, we want to take a moment to highlight the importance of coming to school every day. We understand that illness happens, and students should absolutely stay home when they are sick. At the same time, missing 10 or more days of school, whether excused or unexcused, means a student is considered chronically absent at this point in the year, and those missed days add up quickly.
Regular attendance helps students build strong academic skills and important life skills like responsibility, perseverance, and routine. Being present also means students donât miss out on the many exciting learning experiences, celebrations, and special events happening at Pine Spring each day.
We appreciate your partnership and support in helping our students be present, engaged, and ready to learn. Every day at school truly matters! đđŸ
From February 18 to March 19, students who are fasting during the day can take school meals home. These kits include one breakfast and one lunch to be eaten after the school day ends.
Families must fill out a request form each week for every student who wants a kit. The first deadline is Wednesday, February 11, for the week of February 16. Please note other important details below:
-
Cost: Meals are charged just like a normal school day.Â
-
Pickup: Students must grab their kits at the end of the school day.
-
Menu: Kits include school meals that are easy to heat at home.
Visit the Food and Nutrition webpage for forms, deadlines, and other information. Please contact the Office of Food and Nutrition Services with any questions at FCPSFNS@fcps.edu or 703-813-4800.Â
