In recognition of Heart Health Month, National Wear Red Day

Dear Stone Families,

How does a short week with two-hour delays feel so long? I’m not sure about you, but I am exhausted and looking forward to staying inside for a restful weekend.

Thank you to all of the parents and caregivers who were able to attend Curriculum Night this week. Your partnership and engagement are greatly appreciated, and it was wonderful to see so many of you in the building.

I also want to thank you for your patience and support as we welcomed students back to school this week. The students were excited to return and clearly benefited from getting back into a slighty more normal routine.

This week, the counselors and I had the pleasure of meeting our incoming 7th graders and their families. They are full of excitement about middle school, asked thoughtful questions, and are eagerly anticipating their upcoming visit to the building.

Good luck this weekend to Ian B, Alexis J, Camwyn S. & Nihad M who will be representing Stone at the Mathcounts VA regional chapter competition tomorrow at Robinson Secondary.

Finally, I hope you will consider supporting our students by attending Frozen Jr. the Musical. Performances are tonight, February 6th  at 7:00 PM, tomorrow, February 7th  at 2:00 PM, and 7:00 PM. Our students and staff have worked very hard, and it promises to be a wonderful show.

Have a great weekend and stay warm.

Sincerely,
Sonya Williams

Principal

CPP-College Partnership Program:

Westfield’s College Partnership Program helps high school students prepare for college. This program is designed to support students interested in exploring, applying to, and enrolling in college. In accordance with FCPS' commitment to improving post-secondary outcomes for all students, CPP focuses on closing the opportunity gap by preparing students for college readiness and success through academic advising, college visits, family engagement, and preparation beyond high school. The mission of CPP is to provide students with equitable access to postsecondary opportunities and helps students who face additional barriers to achieving higher education goals, including students who are the first in their family to attend college in the US, English language learners, students who are economically disadvantaged, and students with disabilities. This is not a class, so it does not take an elective course in the student’s schedule.

17th Annual Chinese New Year Festival

On behalf of the Asian Community Service Center, we warmly invite Stone students and teachers to join us at our upcoming 17th Annual Chinese New Year Festival, Feb. 14 at Luther Jackson Middle School, a fun and educational cultural celebration for the whole community.

This festival offers students a wonderful opportunity to experience an important part of Asian culture in an engaging and hands-on way. Our 2026 theme is Filial Piety, a core traditional value that highlights respect, gratitude for parents(also teachers). Through cultural activities, students can learn how these values are expressed in daily life and traditions.

There will be many interactive experiences designed especially for children, including Chinese games, crafts, calligraphy, and writing their names in Chinese. Students can practice their Chinese language skills while enjoying dragon and lion dances, traditional performances, and a variety of Asian handmade foods. Each child will also receive a lucky red envelope at the entrance as part of the New Year tradition.

We encourage students to wear Chinese traditional clothing or their own cultural attire to celebrate the Year of the Horse and bring home good luck from this joyful event.

Date/Time: Feb. 14, Sat./10:30am to 5:30pm

Location: Luther Jackson Middle School, 3020 Gallows Road, Falls Church, VA 22042.

Admission: $5 for adults, $2 for children (6-12) and FREE for children under 6.
