Dear Navy Families,
On behalf of the administration, I want to extend a sincere thank you for your incredible support during this busy and unconventional week. We truly appreciate your flexibility and your steadfast commitment to keeping our students safe each day.
We hope you take some time to recharge and have a safe, relaxing weekend!

At Navy Elementary, our why is rooted in relationships. The connections built between educators, students, and families often extend far beyond the classroom and leave a lasting impact.
Recently, Navy’s very own Chrissy McLaughlin, School-Based Technology Specialist, reconnected with Malik Watkins, a former fifth-grade student, after 17 years. Malik shared that Mrs. McLaughlin played a meaningful role in inspiring his path to working with children. Their reunion is a powerful reminder that the influence of caring educators can shape lives for years to come.
Thank you to FCPS for capturing and sharing this special story. Watch this video to see what advice Chrissy had for Malik as he began his career as an FCPS counselor. Or you canread this feature from the Office of Communications.
Navy Elementary is proud to celebrate National School Counseling Week and recognize Ms. Giardina and Mrs. Fajardo, our dedicated school counselors.
They play an essential role in supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic growth while working closely with families and staff. Their kindness, guidance, and commitment help our Dolphins thrive each day.
We are thankful for the positive impact they have on our school community.

During the month of February, the counselors will be teaching lessons on Kindness and Caring, and how to have positive relationships. In addition, the counselors will be Kicking off a Kindness Week from Feb. 9th-13th where students can participate in a fun spirit week, and also partake in various kindness challenges. Some of these challenges will include writing a kind note to others, filling out a kindness bingo/scavenger hunt, and also writing on a heart what kindness act they have done. Students will get a chance to win a fun prize through a random drawing.
