Kindness

Dear Spring Hill Families,

I would like to sincerely thank two of our Spring Hill dads', Mr. Amirsayafi & Mr. Jia for taking time on Tuesday morning to shovel the Kiss & Ride left turn lane. I know I speak for many of the parents, but this is a true reflection of our strong sense of community and willingness to help others. We are so very appreciative!

We ended this crazy week with our mid-year pep rally! We reviewed our school expectations and our Portrait of a Graduate skills. There was a lot of school spirit!

Next week, we will celebrate Kindness week. Please see our spirit week schedule!

Sincerely,

Amy Briggs

Early Pick-Up Reminder

For the safety of all students, early pick-up must occur before 3:15 PM. After 3:15, our dismissal procedures are fully underway, and we are unable to accommodate early pick-ups at that time. Thank you for planning ahead and partnering with us to keep our students safe.

Meal Kits for Fasting Students

From February 18 to March 19, students who are fasting during the day can take school meals home. These kits include one breakfast and one lunch to be eaten after the school day ends.

Families must fill out a request form each week for every student who wants a kit. The first deadline is Wednesday, February 11, for the week of February 16. Please note other important details below:

  • Cost: Meals are charged just like a normal school day.
  • Pickup: Students must grab their kits at the end of the school day.
  • Menu: Kits include school meals that are easy to heat at home.

Visit the Food and Nutrition webpage for forms, deadlines, and other information. Please contact the Office of Food and Nutrition Services with any questions at FCPSFNS@fcps.edu or 703-813-4800.

Women's history

Women's History Month is coming up!

To celebrate Women's History Month in March, Spring Hill will be hosting a school-wide project to honor the many accomplishments of women in various fields.  Each class will pick an influential woman of their choice and create a display to represent that woman.

We are looking for volunteers!

As the classes learn about different famous women, we want to also highlight the women in our community. SHES will be hosting grade-level assemblies highlighting the amazing moms, grandmothers, aunts, friends and all other women we know!

If you would like to present in person about your job, please sign up HERE.

If you would like to send in information to be displayed about your self, please email a photo and a brief paragraph about yourself to Mrs. Konstantin at ejkonstantin@fcps.edu by March 6th.

Come see the displays throughout the school during our SHES Fun Fair on March 14th.

Family Literacy

Our Spring Semester begins Feb. 9th

The Family Literacy Program begins next week! Enrollment is open so any multilingual family who has children enrolled in FCPS is eligible to attend. Classes are FREE. We offer beginning English classes for adults, early learning environments for children two to five years of age and enrichment classes for children K-8th grade. While the parents are acquiring English language skills and learning how to support their children’s education, their children are participating in learning activities in separate classrooms. If you have any families that you feel could benefit from this program, please contact us via email and we will send you a QR code with a link that you can print and/or share with your families. The QR code is linked to a google form survey that parents can fill out. Our office will then contact each family and invite them to one of our classes.
