The Cardinal Connection: CPES News Delivered to You

Students in Hallway

Dear Cardinal Families,

It has been a cold week, but our school is finally buzzing with life again! We want to extend a massive thank you to our incredible families for your patience and flexibility as we navigated the weather. Seeing our students' faces back in the classrooms today reminded us exactly why we do what we do.

A huge round of applause goes to our amazing custodial crew, Mr. Lopez, Ms. Canales, Ms. Vasquez, and Ms. Orellana. They worked tirelessly throughout the storm shoveling, salting, and prepping our grounds to ensure our school was safe and ready for a smooth return. We are so lucky to have a team that goes above and beyond!

Our teachers are hard at work helping students transition back into their routines. We know a week away and all the delays this week can be a big shift, so thank you for supporting them at home as we dive back into our winter learning goals.

Warmly,

Allison Hoak, Principal

Jon Kemmerer, Assistant Principal

🎶Thank you, Mr. Robinson!

Cunningham Park students shined on stage at the Madison Choral Pyramid Concert on Tuesday night! Singers from Madison, Thoreau, Cunningham Park, Louise Archer, Marshall Road, Vienna, Wolftrap and Flint Hill came together to sing and share their talents. Mr. Robinson led our students in rehearsals and preparations for the big show. Bravo!

💪🏼Finishing the Year Strong: A Mid-Year Reset

Next week marks the start of the second half of the school year. This is a natural turning point and a perfect opportunity to help your child reflect on their current routines and make any necessary adjustments for a successful semester.

We can ensure a strong finish to the year by focusing on these three pillars:

  • Prioritize Rest: Establishing a consistent sleep schedule helps students stay focused and energized for the school day.
  • Consistent Attendance: Every day in the classroom matters. Unless your child is unwell, please help them stay committed to attending school daily.
  • Daily Best Effort: Encourage your child to approach each day with a growth mindset, giving their best effort in every task.

By reinforcing these habits at home, we can work together to make this semester our most successful one yet.

📝 Requests for Student Recommendations or Medical Forms

Our staff is always happy to support our students’ growth, whether they are applying to a new program or working with a healthcare provider. To ensure your child’s privacy and meet legal requirements, please keep the following in mind for all recommendation and rating scale requests:

  • Consent First: Before we can share any information, parents must complete Form SS/SE 79A (Consent to Exchange Confidential Student Information). This form is available in the front office.
  • Direct Submission: To maintain confidentiality and the integrity of the evaluation, all completed forms will be sent directly to the requesting physician or school via mail or fax. We are unable to return completed forms to parents.
  • Timeline: Please allow at least 5 business days for our team to process these requests.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us protect your child’s records!
