Around the World Heritage Night
We're excited to invite you to a parent interest meeting for our upcoming Heritage Night! Join us on Monday, February 9, at 4:00 p.m. in the library to learn more and help with the planning. We'll be honoring the rich diversity of our community by showcasing traditions, customs, food, games, and activities from around the world. Heritage Night will be held on March 26, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
School Experience Survey
Students in grades 3-6 will participate in the FCPS Student Experience Survey between Monday, February 23, and Friday, February 27. You can preview the survey and opt your child out, if you choose, at the Student Experience Survey webpage. The electronic opt-out form can also be accessed at this link. All opt-outs must be received by February 13.

Ramadan Observation and Meal Kits
If your student is observing Ramadan during school hours, please fill out this Ramadan Participation Questionnaire so we can coordinate on both a prayer schedule and a lunch alternative location for them, if needed.
From February 18 to March 19, students who are fasting during the day can take school meals home. These kits include one breakfast and one lunch to be eaten after the school day ends.
Families must fill out a request form each week for every student who wants a kit. The first deadline is Wednesday, February 11, for the week of February 16. Please note other important details below:

Cost: Meals are charged just like a normal school day.

Pickup: Students must grab their kits at the end of the school day.

Menu: Kits include school meals that are easy to heat at home.

🧸 Kindergarten Registration: It’s as Easy as 1-2-3…
There’s an easy five-step process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten:
- Determine eligibility.
- Identify your local school.
- Gather documents.
- Fill out forms.
- Schedule an appointment.
After the appointment at the school (the student and one caregiver must be present), the student will be ready for orientation or other introductory events. Read more about the registration process. For additional information, please contact Jackie O'Brien, our school registrar.
📝 PTA Meeting – February 10, 7 p.m.
Join us for our February PTA meeting to hear updates, get involved, and participate in an important conversation. In response to the recent increase in racist language being used by students, our guest speakers will be members of the admin team, who will share information about the Pyramid of Allyship program being introduced to our students. Join us in the library or on Zoom.

Join us for Taco Wednesday on Wednesday, February 11 from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. and support OV PTA at the same time! Mention OV PTA when ordering in person or use code GIVE20 on mobile orders, and 20% of all sales will be donated back to the PTA.
💛 PTA Kindness Night, Thursday, February 19
PTA Kindness Night is Thursday, February 19 from 6:30–8:00 pm, and all students and families are invited! Join us to pack weekend food bags for food-insecure students at Frost Middle School, make friendship bracelets, and write thank-you notes to community helpers and first responders.
To make the night run smoothly, we also need volunteers—shifts are short, so you can lend a hand and still enjoy the event with your family.
