Dear Beech Tree Families,
There is a special kind of warmth in our school that even a snowstorm can't chill. Seeing the smiles on our students' faces as they reunite with friends, teachers and staff is the best part of our day. We hope you stayed safe and cozy during our recent snow days. While the "snow magic" was fun, we are ❄️thrilled to be back to our learning adventures.❄️
As we settle back in, please keep these quick reminders in mind:
🧤Bundle Up: The winter chill is here! Please ensure your child has a heavy coat, hat, and gloves. If you need assistance obtaining a winter jacket, please contact our Family Liaison, Ms. Rivas Urbano, at 703-531-2601.
📌Attendance Matters: Whether it’s a regular start or a delay, every minute of learning counts toward your child's success and grade-level readiness. Consistency is key!
📚 Finishing Up Different Perspectives in Language Arts 📚
Benchmark Unit 4 in Language Arts is coming to a close! Over the last several weeks, our students have learned, read, and written about the perspectives of characters, authors, and readers.
Connect with your child’s learning at school with these fun questions and hands-on activities at home:
- Question: If your pet (or a stuffed animal) could talk, what do you think it would say about its day?
- Activity: Ask your child to retell a familiar story from another character’s point of view.
At the end of the unit, your child will take their unit magazine home. The magazine includes an activity calendar with fun ways to help students build on what they’re learning at each grade level. You can also find information on how to support your child’s reading at home on the Benchmark Families website.
Thank you for your ongoing support of Beech Tree Elementary School. We wish you a safe and restful weekend.
With appreciation,
Principal Clarke & Assistant Principal Barry
