Return to School Planning
IMPORTANT UPDATES to navigate drop off and pickup as we recover form the storm. Please read!
In light of the difficult access to sidewalks and safe areas for our students to stand, I'm sharing a plan for arrival and dismissal to increase our Kiss N Ride traffic flow this week. We will reevaluate the need to extend this plan next week.
Anticipating Increased Kiss N Ride Traffic
Work now to set up carpools. Less traffic on the narrow roads will help.

10:15 Arrival for Kiss N Ride (2 hr delay)
or 8:15 (on time opening)
Kiss N Ride and Walker Drop off will begin 15 minutes earlier than normal.
DO NOT park in front of the school and obstruct the kiss n ride drive.
Arriving earlier will spread out the traffic and ease Kirby for bus arrival. Students will wait in the cafeteria until the arrival bell rings.
VDOT is working with FCPS to support schools reopening in clearing bus stops. I have placed a request to have VDOT clear the right hand of the road to allow for a waiting line at Kiss N Ride, allowing through traffic to still move by.
Dismissal will begin at 3:25 to accommodate Kiss N Ride Pickup
This will allow us to get started on loading cars and moving you through so our buses do not gridlock Kirby Rd. We plan to release students to the Flagpole and Gym at 3:25. Kinders will be released at 3:20 (the normal 5 minutes early).
DO NOT PARK on Kirby during arrival and dismissal times. We need to keep this area clear for drop off and pick up to allow for cars waiting and picking up students from kiss n ride.
We appreciate your help and support. I look forward to seeing our students very soon!
Sincerely,
Stacy Kirkpatrick, Principal
