Greetings McNair Students and Families,
We hope our Mustangs enjoyed the snow days and treasured the extra time with family. We want to extend our deepest appreciation to our incredible custodial team, who worked tirelessly in frigid temperatures to clear snow and ice and ensure McNair Elementary is safe, accessible, and ready for students and staff. Their commitment, perseverance, and willingness to step up in challenging conditions made a tremendous difference for our entire school community. ❄️💙 Please join us in giving a big Mustang shout-out to Mr. Gubatan, Ms. Mercedes, Ms. Castillo, Mr. Nguyen, and Mr. Le.❄️💙We are truly grateful for all that you do.
Furthermore, we are excited to welcome our Mustangs back this week and return to our daily routines. As you prepare for the week ahead, please remember to send all school-issued devices, including laptops or iPads, along with their chargers, back to school with students. These tools are essential for learning each day.
In addition, being at school every day helps students stay connected and successful. Our current chronic absenteeism rate is 11.3%, and we appreciate your continued partnership in helping every day count—because every Mustang matters!
If you have any questions or would like to connect, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Wishing our entire Mustang community a warm, safe, and wonderful winter weekend!

Importance of Strong Attendance Habits
Regular attendance at school is essential for building skills that help with students sucess through out their education and beyond. Some of the ways parents can help their children create healthy routines and a habit of getting to school on time every day include:
-
Set a regular bedtime and morning routine. (Need help? Download this checklist in English or Spanish.)
-
Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
-
If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to make them feel comfortable and excited about learning.
-
Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent.
-
When possible, avoid medical appointments or extended trips when school is in session.
Visit our website for more attendance resources. Attend today, achieve tomorrow!

Important Reminder: Seasonal Spare Clothes
As the weather cools down, please take a moment to check and update the extra set of clothes in your child's backpack. We ask that the spare clothing includes items appropriate for the current temperatures, such as long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, socks, and underwear. Having a current and complete set of extra clothes is essential for your child's comfort and well-being, especially in the event of spills, accidents, or unexpected changes in the weather. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring all students are prepared!

Our AMAZING school counselors at McNair are Donna Ford and Kristin Coe. Their impact on our school community is immeasurable, and we want to express our deepest gratitude for their incredible dedication to the well-being and success of all of our students.
Please take a moment to share your appreciation with them next week by having your child write them a letter or draw them a picture. Your kind words and encouragement will undoubtedly mean a lot!!
