Woodburn Happenings and Highlights

Title I Parent & Family Engagement Policy & Compact

Woodburn Elementary is a Title I school within Fairfax County Public Schools’ (FCPS) and utilizes the Title I grant to improve student achievement and help all students meet the objectives of the FCPS Program of Studies and the Virginia Standards of Learning. A partnership with families is essential to meeting this goal.

Under Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, schools that receive Title I funds are expected to collaborate with families to develop and maintain a parent and family engagement policy that describes the school’s approach to involve families in students’ learning and includes a compact expressing the partnerships among staff, caregivers, and students to reach high academic goals for every student.

Woodburn's Parent & Family Engagement Policy & Compact can be viewed on the Wooburn Website. We value your feedback and would love to hear from you. Complete this form with any specific feedback regarding our Parent & Family Engagement Policy & Compact.

When Is Sick Too Sick for School?

Keeping students healthy while supporting regular attendance is important for learning and well-being. To help families decide when to send children to school or keep them home, please review the flyer below. Some key reminders include:

  • Students may come to school with mild symptoms such as a runny nose, light cough, or mild stomachache without fever.
  • Students should stay home if they have a fever over 100.4°F, are vomiting, or have frequent watery stools.
  • Please seek medical care if your child has a high fever with other symptoms, trouble breathing, severe pain, or signs of dehydration.

These guidelines help keep all students and staff healthy. Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our school community!

If your child has a chronic illness, make sure to let us know so we can provide assistance, if needed.

Visit the FCPS website for helpful insights regarding absences and how to work with your child and our school to minimize impacts on learning.
