Dear Churchill Road families,
As we gear up for the snowy weather this week, we truly hope everyone takes this opportunity to head outside for some sledding, enjoy plenty of hot cocoa, and find time to genuinely rest and relax together.
While you're staying warm and safe, we also want to make sure our students can log into FCPS websites from any device if you so wish them to. Below are instructions:
1) Logging on to Schoology (lms.fcps.edu); once there, simply look for the Clever icon (the blue "C") in the waffle menu to automatically sign in to their portal. From the Clever dashboard—using their student ID email and personal password—
2) Using our Churchill Road Student Links, explore educational resources with Clever or Google (when prompted for a login).
Please know we are not requiring students to log on to any of these sites, but some of you have asked, so we wanted to provide you with the information.
Have a wonderful and safe weekend!
Mrs. Pierson-Barr and Mr. Kilpatrick

Kindergarten and New Student Registration for 2026-2027 Now Underway
We are now accepting kindergarten registrations! Students must be 5 years old by September 30th, 2026.
If you know anyone who has a rising kindergartener (or 1st-6th student who will attend Churchill Road Elementary), please encourage them to begin registration as soon as possible. Notifying our office of your intent to register or complete registration helps our school secure staffing for the upcoming school year.
If you would like to register your child, begin your Kindergarten and New Student Registration today!
If you have any questions, please contact our Student Information Assistant (SIA), Angie Choi, or call the main office at 703-288-8400.

Parent Input for the 2026-2027 School Year
As we begin planning for the upcoming school year, our staff collaborates regarding student placements. A variety of factors such as student personalities, friendships, and academic abilities are considered as we create our new classes. Other factors impacting the decision-making process of student class assignments are new student enrollments and teachers moving to a new assignment.
Churchill Road families may assist in this process by sharing insights. Please note the following when providing information. We do not accept requests for specific teachers for the upcoming grade placement. This includes hints that reference specific teachers. While all feedback is reviewed and considered, we cannot guarantee placement or non-placement with any other specific students. We do our best to create a positive learning year for your child.
Please provide your input by submitting this form as it will ensure we have your request. Please do not email us additional information. Completion of the form is optional: however, the deadline for any correspondence is Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 4 PM. Thank you for your input.
📱 More News and Updates — on the go — With the FCPS App
Gone are the days of digging through emails or hunting for bookmarks. The FCPS app provides a custom experience that is both powerful and easy to use. Here is how it makes life easier:

Prepare for Winter Weather
Winter weather will be here before you know it! Watch this video to see how weather closing decisions are made at FCPS.
FCPS’ website is generally the first place to find out about emergency weather closings. Other communication channels will be used as quickly as possible, including email, text, social media, the new FCPS mobile app, and news stations. Learn more about how schedule changes are communicated.
Be sure to plan for the winter season. Update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE, bookmark the FCPS website, and arrange emergency child care if needed.
Even If School Is Closed, Learning Can Continue!
We encourage students to take advantage of fun learning opportunities during snow or inclement weather days. Consider these winter activities to blend education and play at home.
📚 Finishing Up Different Perspectives in Language Arts 📚
Benchmark Unit 4 in Language Arts is coming to a close! Over the last several weeks, our students have learned, read, and written about the perspectives of characters, authors, and readers.
Connect with your child’s learning at school with these fun questions and hands-on activities at home:
- Question: If your pet (or a stuffed animal) could talk, what do you think it would say about its day?
- Activity: Ask your child to retell a familiar story from another character’s point of view.
At the end of the unit, your child will take their unit magazine home. The magazine includes an activity calendar with fun ways to help students build on what they’re learning at each grade level. You can also find information on how to support your child’s reading at home on the Benchmark Families website.
