Dear Poplar Tree Families,
As you all know, our beloved Rich the Panther has retired! We loved seeing all the Panthers that were designed by our classes! The votes are in and we are excited to announce our new Panther mascot, PoG the Panther! PoG stands not only for Portrait of a Graduate (all those attributes we know our Poplar Tree students embody), but also for Panther of Greatness! You can see see PoG and her description below! Congratulations to Ms. Kollmer's class who designed PoG using Chat GPT!
As we anticipate the winter weather coming this weekend, we hope everyone stays safe and warm and is able to enjoy some fun in the snow! For those families hoping for students to engage in online educational activities, please visit the FCPS Snow Day activities webpage.
You can watch this video to see how weather closing decisions are made at FCPS. FCPS’ website is generally the first place to find out about emergency weather closings. Other communication channels will be used as quickly as possible, including email, text, social media, the new FCPS mobile app, and news stations.
We look forward to having the students back in the building...whenever that may be! 😀❄️
Sue Andujar, Principal
Amy Alley, Assistant Principal
Where in the school is Ms. Andujar!?
This week's video features Ms. Andujar surprising Ms. Kollmer's 4th graders and letting them know that the Panther they designed will be our new mascot!

📝Student Experience Survey
Our school will participate in the FCPS Student Experience Survey. This survey will gather important feedback from students about their school experiences to help FCPS make meaningful improvements.
All students in grades 3-6, except those who have opted out, will receive a link to the survey in their FCPS email on February 23. We will administer the survey during the school day between Monday, February 23, and Friday, March 6. Any student may take the survey at home, if they are unable to take the survey during the school day. You will receive a communication with details on how to preview the survey and opt your child out, if you choose. The electronic opt-out form can also be accessed at this link.
We believe it's important to hear from our students about what we're doing well and where we can improve. This work also aligns with the equity commitments in FCPS’ 2023-30 Strategic Plan, which include a focus on amplifying student voice and experiences as we work toward meeting plan goals.

Cindy is teased by her step-sisters when she tries out for the track team. And what's with all the rumors about the mysterious Wolf Man? Narrated by the bumbling Principal Grimm, this fast-paced comedy concludes, of course, with the "Happily Ever After Dance."
Performances will be January 23 at 7pm, January 24 at 2pm & 7pm, and January 25 at 2pm. Purchase tickets at chantillydrama.org.
